About this Cook
I'm a preschool teacher that lives with her food-loving boyfriend, Adam, and our american bulldog, Samson. We love experimenting as much as we love classic comfort food.
My favorite things to cook
Undoubtedly, pizza. Followed closely by tacos.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As long as I can remember, my German grandmother spent the weeks up to Christmas baking intricate and delicate cookies. She passed away a few years ago, but I feel that I still have her with me as I now labor on these precious cookies during the Christmas season.
My cooking tragedies
Our apartment oven is usually 100 degrees hotter than the dial says it will be... this has led to many crispy catastrophes.

Spicy Kielbasa Soup
I recently moved and needed a slow cooker recipe for something easy and quick to set up in the morning while I unpacked all day. Since we also moved to a very Polish area of Philadelphia, I also thought the kielbasa would be a fun touch. I am so happy with this recipe! My boyfriend avoids all things reduced-fat, so I got full on fatty, pork kielbasa. I also increased the amount of red pepper flakes to about a 1/2 tbsp (we love spice), left out the zucchinis and carrots, and added about a cup of barley. Next time I make this, I'll likely double the recipe so we have more leftovers. I will also put in more kielbasa and make sure I remember the carrots.

Broken Thermostat Curry
My boyfriend has long stated that he does not like curry but went nuts for this recipe. He asks for it on a regular basis. If you're a fan of spicy foods, I would add more red pepper flak and cayenne than what this recipe calls for. For true spicy fans, this curry is a little too mild as is. I substituted chicken stock for the water, double the yams, and used about half the amount of potatoes. I also used canned diced carrots to save time and energy. This is a fabulous recipe that also freezes well. I highly recommend it.

Rosie's Bok Choy Salad
This salad was excellent. Even the pickiest eaters of my family enjoyed it! We're big fans of green onions, so I added more of those but other than that the recipe is great as is.
