About this Cook
I'm originally from the East Coast, NY and VA to be specific. My husband is from Puerto Rico, and me being of Italian heritage, we make a dangerous combination! We both LOVE food, and love to try new foods! Just a note to allrecipes cooks: If you change a recipe beyond recognition, don't rate it! You're rating your own recipe! Not the one on the website. Here's a thought! Submit it as a new recipe if it's so good!!! Sorry. ;) I like the suggestions on the site, but sometimes there are just too many alterations!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook Italian food, comfort foods and desserts. My husband wishes I would cook more "real" food! He is a great chef, and is very good at cooking traditional Puerto Rican food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
All holidays involved lots and lots of cooking! We always had traditional American food and Italian food. Growing up, I was always afraid to try the things my Pop-pop made, like caponata and stuffed mushrooms, but now I wish I would have been more brave! They're delicious!
My cooking triumphs
I had the recipe my mother gave me (that her father gaver her) to make a good red sauce- for lasagna. Well, the day I planned to make it, I lost the recipe and didn't want to cook, but my husband urged me to do it. Well, I did it without the recipe and it came out great! My first try. I guess it's in the blood. My husband also loves my potato salad, and I finally got my chicken pot pie just right. I make a great cookie too!
My cooking tragedies
Ah, which one to choose. Sweet and sour something. It was a horrible corn starch blob, more like a gelatin. That's the worst one I can think of. I'm sure my husband could think of a better one!

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes
I followed others' advice and cooked them for longer and broiled them at the end. I also used olive oil instead of melted butter and tossed the potatoes in it. They came out great!!! Didn't stick to the pan.

Fried Pork Chop
I took the advice of some other reviewers and put adobo on the pork before the flour. I also added onion and garlic powder and parsley to the flour. It came out GREAT! I gave it 4 stars because I could see why you would want to add some more seasoning.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I
Based on ease of recipe - this came out great! I was really expecting it to just taste like beef, but it had a good flavor. I made it exactly according the recipe. (I didn't have beef broth, but used a beef bullion) Give this a try before you go braising the beef - if you want a simple dish. It was really easy and quick. I used the crock pot on high and it was done in 4 hours!
