About this Cook
I think everyone says this, but cooking was instilled in me by my Ba Noi (my grandma). I love feeding an army. I love the look on peoples faces when they're chowing down and I aim to please. I find prep work tumultuous. I wish I could hire servants to cut up and clean up after me, but I guess I'll have to wait to win the lotto! I love authentic, prepared from scratch meals, please don't Sandra Lee me! I love to exercise as much as I love to eat, however I think I might love to eat just a little bit more. Actually I'm sure of it! I am extremely fond of wine,in particular red wine, whites are okay I enjoy a good Geurtz or a Bordeaux every once in a while. Lately, I've been on a sweet kick.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking just about everything. However lately I've really been into making broths, soups, and really utilizing bone marrow and whole chickens. Sounds like I've been making Pho-Right?! I enjoy making Paella because its one of my favorite dishes and lasagna is always fun to put together.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Whenever I've been in town I've always made Thanksgiving Dinners, I mean the whole Thanksgiving Dinners. My cousins and I recently decided to start a Christmas tradition of baking cookies as a collective whole to one-appreciate girls night and two- to allow our creative sides come out for the good of fattening up the family!
My cooking triumphs
My cooking triumphs, if you ask my siblings its my banana bread. No one comes close to making it the way I do, but then again we're only talking about My family. I'm sure there's a ton of people who can beat me at making amazing banana bread. However I'm just excited that I finally figured out how to make Pho correctly, I think slicing the beef was the biggest triumph in that ordeal. Umm yeah, serious art form to cut beef that thin. . .
My cooking tragedies
My fiance would tell you that my cooking tragedies are far and very few in between, but a good and funny one is my pizza. Something about rolling it out or tossing it around doesn't do me any good. The amount of cheese to sauce ratio gets me everytime! Not necessarily the best creation from me, but definitely not the worst.

Mexican Rice II
I used freshly made tomato sauce and I don't know if that was the problem. I felt like it needed some tomato paste.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
I've always tried the recipes on the back of a bag of chocolate chips. I must say these are the best ever. The cookies are absolutely perfect. 15 minutes was right on. I have to use soy butter, which was a little salty so next time I'll just omit the salt. I molded the cookies into a ball so that they wouldn't flatten out and it turned out great. The low oven temperature is an absolute must!

Easy Tomato Sauce
So I really enjoyed how basic this recipe was. I was in desperate need of utilizing too many left over Costco tomatoes and this was right up my alley. I didn't have tomato paste, but seeing a review wishing to omit anyway - I did. While I was sauteing the onions I felt like it was missing the "smell." So I added 3 cloves of grated garlic and dried basil. It turned out fantastic! I can still smell my sauce now - Yummy. Thanks for the recipe.
