About this Cook
Domestication isn't such a bad thing,... it's the creative part I enjoy,... not the cleaning part! I also like gardening.
My favorite things to cook
Italian Food, some Asian Food, German food, good old American comfort food(s), some Mexican food,.... I am not a picky eater, so I will try a wide array of foods. Needless to say, most of my family are picky eaters, so I am limited on what I can make or eat in the home. It does squelch my creativity and palate,.....which is a real bummer!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is German, and I enjoyed many of the interesting dishes she has prepared over the years. I have Italian heritage in my family as well. I love Italian food, so I enjoy making it as well.
My cooking triumphs
I think I make great party food. I love dips and finger snack foods. When I entertain or go to parties, they seem to go over real well.
My cooking tragedies
One memory that comes to mind is,......one time when I was a young teen, I made spaghetti and threw in a boatload of green olives in the sauce. My parents were kind to eat it anyway,... but admitted that they preferred it without them. ;o)

Tantalizing Turkey and Blue Cheese Meatballs
This is a very good recipe for meatballs, and even more so for turkey meatballs. I didn't have blue cheese on hand, so I used Parmesan cheese instead. (Although, I would like to use blue cheese in the future.) I used 1 whole egg instead of the egg whites. I did use the jalapeno pepper(fresh not pickled/canned), and it gave it an interesting and wonderful zip. I am thinking if they are too spicy for some, one can use mild green chilies as a few people have already substituted, or even possibly one can use mild bell pepper too. Thanks for a tasty alternative to the run of the mill & sometimes bland recipes I often see for meatballs. I am pondering using ground beef the next time instead of turkey,..... ;o)

German Beef Rouladen
Thanks for the nice reviews everyone. This is an easy dish to prepare and is very tasty. It is an impressive dish to most, because it looks and tastes so upscale. It has always been a big favorite of mine. I love German food (hence my heritage), and this is one of the best dishes my mom makes. I have always had it with (spaetzle - homemade soft noodles), and red cabbage. It's pure heaven on a plate. Thanks for also posting a picture Tricia! ;o)
