One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
this was my friend's fave recipe...so glad I found it here! The conversion if you only have cocoa powder instead of baking chocolate squares is as follows: 1 C cocoa powder 1 C melted butter-better with real butter 2 C sugar 3 large eggs 1 C flour 1 ts vanilla and my kids still don't like nuts, so for now we omit and they are chewy & gooey ....and easier to remember! Thank you!

Easy Pesto

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
I can't believe it was so easy and tasty! I did toast the nuts on the stove top as suggested in earlier comment, and substituted walnuts (that's what I had) and it was great. I've made it twice now...also great on little dry toasts/ italian bread or pasta and can adjust the amount oil used. I used my homegrown basil, but found if you don't have the 1 1/2 c. basil, it is better to add basil from grocery, rather than reduce the recipe-the ratio is just right! Freezes well, just allow enough time to thaw before next use.

Grandma's Gingersnap Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
Wunderbar! This is almost my Grandma's Ginger-Molasses Cookie recipe with the exception of the tablespoon of ginger, instead of a rounded teaspoon, but she never measured any way and it was just our guesstimate from watching her! Great blend of flavors, soft and chewy with a little crunch on the outside. She always told us to store them in a coffee can to help keep the freshness! Also, make sure you have fresh baking soda and ginger to make sure these cookies turn out their best. I find I have to get new ginger after 2 years! Thank you for sharing!

Apple Dip

My family discovered this simple yet amazing recipe years ago, and we forgot the ratio for the ingredients....way better than the store bought stuff, and it does taste great with either regular or light cream cheese! Great with other fruits, too! Thank you so much for posting this favorite recipe!: )

Doggie Biscuits I

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
After 2 yrs of trying to find a treat our dog would eat, we are so happy our first try at making them was this recipe, as our dog, Jack, loves them...and we didn't even have any vanilla in the pantry. Come to find out, another neighbor's dog is just as finicky, and loved these treats, too! it was a little sloppy and had to add more flour, but next time we'll follow suggestions for cutting down the water and I liked the suggestion for shaping them without the cookie cutter, as our cookie cutters were too big for the terrier next door! We're wondering if fresh mint would help with the breath? Thanks, Dani!

Chocolate Rocky Road Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
I think this is the lost recipe I've been looking for...my girlfriend in high school introduced it to me and her family put one marshmallow on top to cook 5-7 min, and then placed another on top of that and baked it again for 1-2 min to melt. I loved the melted marshmallow part and would always add 2 to make the total 3. It looks like my cookies were a bit thinner than the picture and always tender/chewy and moist! Thank you for posting your recipe...ahhh, the memories! I can't wait to try them again!

Wonderful recipe! And that's what we thought before my 4 yr old wanted chocolate chips in it and all we had were dark choc chips....let me say, it was a great addition and we can't wait to try it with the other variations that were suggested! She still doesn't know it has whole wheat flour in it!:)

Tarte Tatin

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
Thank you, Thaddeus for submitting your recipe, all the ones on the web are so complicated! My friend made this for my birthday, and then showed me how to do it, but I did not have a recipe for the pastry part and could not replicate what she showed me. I also needed the reminder for slicing the apples thinly...it makes a difference. So, let me share a tip about using an ovenproof saucepan. She melted the sugar on the stovetop in the same pan, until amber color and turned off the heat and turned the pan to coat the sides, and then layered the sliced and peeled apples, and topped with the pastry. No mess, no added butter, and when you fill the pan to the top with apples (took 5-6 apples) it's easy to flip over and comes out great! Fresh whipped cream is a great final touch!

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2006
Wow! I'm not usually a banana fan, but we found this to be the best recipe to use those quickly ripening bananas! I'm editing my review after 3 yrs of this being my favorite banana muffin recipe "as is" because over the years I've made a few changes to make it healthier...as suggested in other reviews I substituted applesauce-when I have it for the butter and use the butter Pam spray for the muffin pans for the flavor. Also, the recipe seems fairly forgiving if I only have 2 bananas or 4. I've also been able to exchange wheat flour and oat bran for the all purpose flour. Although I do love cinnamon, this recipe is great whether it's added or not! The best thing I like about using this recipe is that I can make it into mini muffins and it's even quicker than the 25 min cooking time!Thank you so much, Abi!

great cookie! my husband and 3 yr old daughter whipped these up in the time I fed the baby, and without any problem! Spectacular! They used the microwave to soften the butter (15 seconds per stick=30 sec. total) and 1 extra large egg! I can't wait to try the other half of the batch tomorrow doing cut outs! Thank you, Stephanie!

Great Birthday Dinner Idea! The first time we had it at a friend's house and it was great! The second time we made it ourselves. The Next time we will decrease the seasoning since if we do not use the beer, as the potatoes were too spicy without it. Great Recipe! thanks!

Luscious Chocolate Truffles

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2004
This is a great, but simple recipe! My family has been using this recipe for almost 15 years. We heat it up in the microwave on half power--simple enough for kids to do with supervision and all in one dish! The neighbors, teachers, and grandmas would love them as they were personally made by the kids and given in home made containers! Some of our favorite toppings are powdered sugar, cocoa, crushed peppermint candy canes, and crushed walnuts or hazelnuts grown in our backyard! Don't forget the little paper cups you can purchase at the store--cupcake papers just in bite size!

Sour Cream Pound Cake

My husband is a great cook, but following detailed recipes is not his style. This is an easy to follow recipe with a tremendous pay off! The crust is crisp with a tender and moist cake in the middle! Watch the time, as our oven cooks it in 45 min. Also, double the recipe if using a bundt pan!

Yummy Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2004
These are a great combo of chocolate and peanut butter! The consistency was just like regular peanut butter cookies(not at all dry) and the color and taste is definitely chocolate. They turned out great--left over dough kept well in the refrigerator/ and freezer until later time! Not really sweet, so we added a couple of chocolate chips on top while they were cooling....but next time I will use the peanut butter chips to top them off! This also gives those with peanut allergies a "heads up" re: ingredients.

I wanted something different, but this was even Better than I had hoped for! It's not too strong with the curry, in fact, next time I will try adding a little more with the brand I got (it varies by brand). What little leftovers we had were even better the next day! The nuts and raisins are a must! Thank you!
