Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Excellent! I did add some nutmeg and cinnamon, used 3 bananas instead of 2, and replaced some of the flour with whole wheat flour. One of the best banana breads I have made yet!

Blueberry Buckle

This is a great recipe! I hate posting alterations but I had to make some. Used coconut oil instead of shortening, subbed whole wheat graham flour for 1/4 of the flour, and replaced the white sugar with brown sugar for the topping. Fabulous!

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Excellent! I scaled this down to half and used some Bailey's in place of half of the milk. Delicious! Everybody raved about it!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Great recipe! I did make some subs... used some white wheat flour for 1/3 of the flour. Also ran out of sugar, so I used honey for some of the sweetener. I added 1 cup of grated carrot and a 1/2 cup or so of raisins. Delicious!

Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
This recipe is awesome! I did modify a little based on recommendations. I replaced 1 cup of the flour with whole wheat. I also did the kneading and first rise in my bread machine. I used 1 cup butter and 1 cup brown sugar in the bottom of 2 8x8 baking dishes. Then I covered with plastic wrap and went to bed. 6 hrs later, I took them out and left at room temp for 1 hr. Baked for 20 minutes and they were superb! Nice and soft, very ooey and gooey!! I may actually cut back slightly on the butter and brown sugar last night to what was in the original recipe. Otherwise, awesome!

Light and Fluffy Spinach Quiche

Not bad, but not great either. Seemed to be missing something; lacks a bit flavor and saltiness. Maybe more cheese or throwing in some ham or bacon would help?

Baked Ziti I

A hit! I'm not much of a cook but I took on this recipe for Christmas Eve dinner with the family (and the first time I've made dinner for the family). Everybody raved about it! Even my picky brother-in-law (who always has an excuse why not to eat at family gatherings) helped himself to some! I did eyeball many measurements, using as much sauce, cheese and sour cream as it looked like it needed. I also used 1/2 ground turkey and 1/2 mild bulk sausage. Used some extra provolone on the top, and split up the sour cream so that half was in the middle and half on top. Hubby says this one is a keeper!

Strawberry Oatmeal Bars

Delicious! I did increase the flour and oatmeal to 1.5 cups each, cut back on the sugar to 1/2 cup, and used a 9x9 baking pan. Definitely a keeper!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2007
Pretty good! I made it as directed, only adding a little bit of broth and potatoes because we like ours to have a lot of potatoes. I also cooked on low for 9 hrs and on high for 1 hr (the last half hour with the lid off to help thicken it up). It needed a bit more seasoning, but otherwise it was excellent!
