About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Just about anything, except I always lose recipes. My husband gets very mad when he asks me to make something that I can't find the recipe for! The only thing I am not crazy about is baking. I am trying to do more of that, but the kitchen ends up a disaster zone. Unfortunately, we are cursed with a very picky eight year old eater, so my recipes have become more "toned down" in recent years. I always am tickled when I make something new and my son says "it's not too bad", which for him, is quite a compliment.
My favorite family cooking traditions
French Onion Soup and Traditional Caesar Salad for Christmas dinner
My cooking triumphs
When I was 12, I cooked a four course meal for my family. My hero has always been Julia Child and I used one of her early cookbooks. My mother still raves about this dinner!
My cooking tragedies
Probably too many to list! The key is to keep trying.

Red Wine Flavored Beef
We just finished (and I mean finished) eating this for dinner and I just had to review immediately. This recipe makes the most incredible gravy! I did brown the roast on the stove first, and I followed the lead of some of the other reviews; full package of soup, rosemary and a bay leaf, and also 1 minced clove of garlic. After the roast was finished, I thickened the juices with cornstarch. WOW! Thanks so much for what will be a new family favorite.

Olive and Feta Pasta
I needed a side to accompany the Pork Souvlaki from this site. I used orzo instead of spaghetti and since I didn't have crimini mushrooms on hand, I used regular button ones. Kalamata Olives completed the "Greek" taste. Delicious!
