About this Cook
I am 27 years old and am a newly wed, I just got married on September 6 2008. I am part Jamaican and part French Canadian and my husband is Dominican, so I have to live up when it comes to cooking some great meals that come from both my ethnic background and my husbands. I love to cook, although this has become a recent hobby of mine. After I turned 25 I started wanting to make some of the meals my mom and grandmother used to make for me as a child. I hope to become a master at cooking all kinds of cusines. I want to be "that mom or wife" everyone raves about in the kitchen. I love to have fun and have found profound fun in cooking and well to me the best part of cooking is enjoying the meal and feeling like a success!!!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking casseroles, chicken and flaverful dishes. Anything full of seasoning and color is my kinda dish. I am not big on baking yet, I am a little shy when it comes to desserts..lol I plan on tackling baking as I go along :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up at home Dad would make lots of southern dishes like collard green with hamhocks, and cornbread my fav!! And Mom's traditions were things like french meat pie and baked beans...ummmm! I have inherited all these great recipes and plan to pass them down to my kids!
My cooking triumphs
Last year I made thanksgiving dinner at my house.I had 13 people over!!! It was better then expected and I got great reveiws on my turkey from everyone. I made all the fixings and we ate like kings and queens, I felt well accomplished :)
My cooking tragedies
I tried making beef stew one time, hah...something went wrong somewhere! It looked and tasted horrible, my husband tried to play it off like it was good...what a good man!! lol I havent tried to make it again since, but I will successfully make a delicious beef stew one day ~;0
