I am a mother, grandmother and wife and recently figured out I still love to cook for people and have dinners, after a few years of "slacking off" from it. The grandkids are my most honest critics!!!
My favorite things to cook
Desserts, casseroles
My favorite family cooking traditions
This is more like a memory than a tradition, but when we used to visit my grandma's house, every meal, even lunch, was a full out spread of everyone's favorite dish. She made everything homemade and even mashed her potatoes with a hand masher, instead of electric. I think in a way, I have tried to make sure everyone always has something they really like at my table, just like my grandma did.
My cooking triumphs
I make a really good chili, that I have perfected. It originally started out as a venison chili recipe, but I have changed a few things and always gets raves. I also always gets asked to bring a pumpkin roll.
My cooking tragedies
My first (and worst) meal I ever made was Swedish meatballs. It was the first thing I ever made as a newlywed and is was so bad, we choked it down and then threw out the rest!!
