About this Cook
I am a stay at home mom with lots of time to create and think of new ideas on old recipes. Some are from family, or here and I just play with them and love making new tastey dishes for me and my husband. Recently I've started creating my own recipes from scratch. So far so delicioso! :)
My favorite things to cook
Mexican, Italian, Japanese and Middle Eastern food. Moroccan food that I've tried to make came out very well too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I learned my spaghetti recipe from my parents ( I believe my dad taught it to my mom ) I grew up watching. Another family recipe we have, that I love, is Mom's rice stuffing! She would make this at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I watched her make that so much and when I moved on my own asked her for the recipe and continue that tradition in my home.
My cooking triumphs
Making the rice stuffing taste just like Mom's! Another one I am proud of is learning how to make homemade Mexican food for my husband and have him tell me its just as good as his Mom makes it :) First time ever trying Mexican food was when I met him!! Not too bad for a white Canadian gal.
My cooking tragedies
I haven't really had one since I was about 7 years old trying to surprise my dad with home made muffins on Father's Day... I went by memory of watching my Mom and forgot ONE ingredient! They turned out to be flat wierd patties instead of nice fluffy muffins.

Conchas (Mexican Sweet Bread)
oh my what a recipe! The conchas were so good!! I followed everything exactly and although it didn't rise they turned out so great and tastey. Better than the local panaderia only a bit smaller. I'm still not sure why they didn't rise both times but when it tastes this good I won't question it! Thank you so much for sharing this. I'll never buy stale pan de dulce again ;)

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken
I couldn't get the sauce to thicken but the flavour was really good. I was craving more of a sticky thick honey garlic sauce but I will make this again since it tasted so good. I served it with rice and sauteed bean sprouts, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and a corn starch, ground ginger, chicken stock sauce coating :D I think next time I will take the sauce and pan fry it to thicken it up and see if that makes it just right. I did not put pineapple anything in it and probably won't because I feared it would make it too much like sweet and sour sauce. Thank you for posting a yummy SLOW COOKER recipe! No can soups. haha!

Honey Mustard Salad Dressing
I normally don't like to review recipes if I am not able to do it EXACTLY as written but this created something so delicious I had to say something and thank you! I didn't have onion and I used dried parsley. I followed all measurements perfectly but used a mixture of balsamic and apple cider vinegar. The only oil I use on my salads is EVOO so that was used in place of veg. oil. The only mustard I had was spicy brown. haha So its the right ingredients just different types of what you use! I LOVE it!! I read that others found it too thin but thats how I like dressings to be. I don't like thick, fatty, overly saturated salads. This is perfect to pour over a large salad and just toss and serve. Mmmm It all fit perfectly into my 16 oz salad dressing bottle I had with just enough left over to make a salad right away ;) Thank you.. great recipe!
