About this Cook
I have an extended family with four kids altogether. I have a wonderful man, who has brought out all my passions for cooking. My newest edition to our family is my Keurig, I live coffee and this one is the bomb. I work alot of hours at a chemical plant, so I have so make time for my cooking addictions.
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new recipes and adding them to my tried and true. It seems like I am always doing the casserole thing, don't know if that is good or not. As far as sweets go my kids can't be without. I just finished baking the cream puff cake (totally fabulous) and I love doing the cake mix cookies which are always a go to for the kiddos.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Turkey and dressing for Thanksgiving. Just added homemade egg noodle and chicken last year for Christmas. And I always make fry bread for my kids as an after school snack just as my mom did for me. During the summer always a big crab boil with all the taters and corn. Love that spicy stuff!!!!
My cooking triumphs
My mom passed several years ago. I have spent alot of time trying to recreate her recipes. It is true there is nothing like moms cooking. I have conquered her fry bread, spaghetti, goulash, fried green tomatoes, fried tater patties, fried tuna patties, hamburger steaks. We had a family of six so she was a big food stretcher. And I am still trying to figure more of her recipes out.
My cooking tragedies
Glass Pyrex that blew up in the kitchen. I was finished and had to throw away everything. It was such a shattering event for my chicken enchiladas. Then the taco shells that caught on fire in the toaster oven. Threw it all out the front door. But these were all lessons learned well. I bought Staub and Le Crueset no more glass. Taco shells are warmed and toasted in regular oven.
