About this Cook
I am a 45 year old mother of three daughters. I have three grandsons and one granddaughter. They are the best in the world!!! I've been married for almost two years. Life is good! Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "Woo Hoo, what a ride!"
My favorite things to cook
I like all kinds of cooking, but especially baking.
My cooking triumphs
Several blue ribbons for baking at county fair.
My cooking tragedies
While preparing Thanksgiving dinner, I grabbed the brown sugar to make the sweet potato casserole. It was at that point I wondered, "Why is this package not opened?!? I had to use brown sugar in the pumpkin pie!" Needless to say, an unsweetened pumpkin pie isn't very good. Thank goodness I figured it out before serving to my guests!!!!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
From the looks of other reviews, this is either a 'love it' or 'hate it' recipe. Unfortunately, I fall into the hate it category. I don't know what I did wrong, but it must have been something! The only change I made was to cut the biscuits to 1 1/2 cans. I used the Walmart brand equivalent of Grands biscuits. They formed a huge lump in the top of the crockpot. I was unsure whether to stir or not, but eventually decided it was required. I wound up with a crockpot full of gooey, pasty substance. I soooooo wanted to like this recipe, as I have not had very good luck with dumplings in the past. Too bad this one is not a keeper. :-(

Allie's Delicious Baked Dumplings
Very delicious! Like other reviewers, I chopped the apples first and followed the recipe otherwise. Nice crispy, flaky crust, done-but-not-mushy apples, nice spice. Over all very good!
