Tangy Beef Turnovers

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
Easy and pretty tasty - will make again on one of those come-home-from-work-starving nights. I did use Havarti instead of Swiss because it's what I had in the fridge.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
My husband and I were celebrating our first Christmas on our own, and I wanted to start a new tradition for breakfast Christmas morning. After considering well over a dozen options, I picked this, and it was perfect - easy and delicious. I cut the recipe in thirds and made a single loaf pan, which cooked for the full 1/2 hour. Because I only made a third of the glaze, boiling it for a minute turned out to be a little too long, as it started to get hard. Next time, I'll try for 45 seconds. I'm so looking forward to having this year after year... yum!

Easy Banana Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
This brownie is perfect! For over a year, I've been trying several different brownie recipes a month... this is the best one so far. The texture is absolutely wonderful. I made the recipe exactly according to directions, except I added 1/3 c. semisweet chocolate chips to the batter right before baking. So good!

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2009
Definitely good. I didn't have a bundt pan, so I used a 13x9 and increased the topping to 3/4 c. brown sugar and 2 t cinnamon (nut allergy - I left them out altogether). Ended up baking it, with frozen berries, for 55 minutes and it was perfect.

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
These are ok... edible and soft. However, they don't taste very peanut buttery, and rather than the soft, chewy texture I was expecting, they turned out very dry and cake-like. I ended up giving them all away to neighborhood children, because my husband hated them and I couldn't stomach eating the entire batch. I followed the recipe exactly as written.

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: May 29, 2009
Super easy with my Kitchenaid. My husband was wary to try some, but once he did he almost ate the entire loaf :) The longer it sat, the better it tasted (although it was all gone within two days).

Molten Chocolate Cakes With Sugar-Coated Raspberries

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
Very gourmet, especially considering how fast and easy they are. Served them with whipping cream and regular raspberries rather than sugar-coated ones, which seemed to be a pretty good combination. Much better straight out of the oven than reheated in the microwave, though.

Asian Style Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
I love hoisin sauce and meatloaf, so I was very excited to try this recipe. After reading the other reviews, I flipped the proportions of the ketchup and hoisin, and it still tasted plenty hoisiny. The meatloaf was very good on top of a pile of white rice.

Ben Lippen School Coffee Cake (Mrs. Hathaway's recipe)

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
Followed the recipe exactly, except I added a few tablespoons of brown sugar to the topping so it would cover the cake a bit better. Very delish... it ended up being the best coffee cake I've ever had.

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds with Sugar and Spice

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2007
Amazingly easy and yummy. We had four people over for pumpkin pie... at the end of the night the pie was only half gone, but the double batch of pumpkin seeds had completely vanished, and our friends all wanted a copy of the recipie. They were fantastic, but next time, we'll try making them without the salt.
