My favorite things to cook
Italian dishes, bbq, soups, sauces, and anything new I can come up with for my 3 year old, who is allergic to dairy products. I want her to grow up trying new things all the time, but with the allergy it really limits things. So any time I can sub things for her in a recipe, or come up with one on my own, I get really excited, especially when she actually eats it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I used to spend weekends at my grandmothers house when I was little baking and making comfort foods like chicken noodle soup, french toast, and spaghetti. She taught me all the basics of good old fashioned cooking, if it werent for her I would be stuck ordering take out all the time!
My cooking triumphs
I am not a very good baker, and I recently tackled cheesecake for the holidays, and it came out awesome! I also slow cooked ribs for the first time a couple weeks ago, and it was much easier than I thought it would be, they came out great!
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make a cream of asparagus soup once when we first moved into our new house. I must have missed a key ingredient, because it tasted horrible. Its the first and last time I have tried to make that soup, I'm sure I could do it correctly now, but I just dont want to revisit it!
