About this Cook
I started cooking when I was young, and luckily for me, it seems I've gotten my father's culinary skill and cooking comes naturally.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking desserts and also eating desserts! If it's full of fat, I'll probably want to cook it, for better or for worse. I also love trying out new dinner recipes to keep things varied and I love making a hot soup on chilly days.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother makes a terrific vegetable soup, and I love duplicating all her recipes, or at least trying to. I hope to one day be as great in the kitchen and have as many culinary tricks up my sleeve as she does!
My cooking triumphs
Making dinner for the first time with new people always makes me nervous. A lot of my man's friends were coming over, and I made an elaborate meal for them. They tore it apart! I walked into the room to ask how my mashed potatoes were, and they all pointed towards the center of the table at the bowl, which had been scraped so clean I could almost have put it back in the cabinet! That was a load off. =]
My cooking tragedies
When I was younger, as in probably 10 years old, I tried a sour cream candy recipe that just didn't turn out. Although I still maintain to this day that it wasn't my fault, and it still tasted the way it was supposed to, my family ridiculed my cooking blunder at the time and wouldn't even try it. I was crushed!

Buffalo Chicken Dip
Great dip! This went over well at my Superbowl party. I only used one 8-oz. package of cream cheese, used bleu cheese instead of ranch, measured the hot sauce only to taste, and baked it rather than slow-cooked it. It's fattening as all get-out, so it's really rich, but I think it was a 9 out of 10. It should definitely be served hot, I'd say. The recipe made a ton, so I had a lot left over from my gathering of about 10 people. I will make again. Thanks for the recipe!

Oatmeal Carmelitas
Not bad. Mine were not quite as sweet as I'd like and I'd say definitely too floury as is. However, I see a lot of potential in this recipe and I won't give up that easily. Made this as dessert with chicken pasta. I made mine with caramel-milk chocolate morsels and it came out very well using that. For presentation, I squeezed caramel in a drizzle pattern first and then melted chocolate with a little butter and drizzled that over the caramel. Pretty good as is, and with tweaking, it can only get better. DF loved these and said they were remniscent of Chewy bars. Thanks for the recipe!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust
A tasty crust that baked up nicely....and so much better for you than the junk in the frozen food isle and at chain pizza joints. Thanks for the recipe.
