Penne with Lemon, Asparagus, and Cheese

Love it. Tastes rich and flavorable, despite being really light. Seems like a lot of thyme and asparagus, but it is perfect amount. I would add touch more pancetta.

Jackie's Spinach and Apple Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
I loved the combo of cheddar cheese and apple with the spinach. I used an extra sharp cheese for extra flavor. The dressing sounded a bit bland to me, so I used a bottle Sweet Vidalia dressing instead. DH loved it.

Turkey Tetrazzini II

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
Very good base recipe. I took the advice of many and sauted some onion, garlic, and mushrooms with the butter. I cut the recipe in half and cooked it for 40 minutes, and it came out a little to dry. Perhaps that is because I used tapioca flour since I have to cook gluten free. Next time, I will increase the milk and broth by 50%. I think doubling the sauce would be too much.

Waldorf Salad II

Nothing earth shatteringly different here-- it is a simple Waldorf salad recipe. But simple is often the best, and it deserves 5 stars. Delicious recipe. Even those not crazy about Waldorf salad liked it.

Easy and excellent recipe. Very tasty traditional stuffing. I used gluten-free sourdough bread from Whole Foods, and it was delicious. Everyone at the table loved it.

White Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: May 13, 2008
I added all the spices except for the cinnamon, and then tasted it, and it was very good. Then I just added 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and I wished I hadn't. You don't taste a cinnamon flavor, but it made the chili taste too "earthy". If you don't like earthy flavors, this recipe isn't for you.

Chicken Teriyaki with Asparagus

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
This was so easy, and looks so fancy. DH loves asparagus, and was estatic with this recipe. All the flavors blended well together. I think it needed a bit more flavor. I will season the chicken with some garlic next time.

Sugared Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2008
I was trying to halve the recipe, but accidentally added a full cup of broth, so I didn't get the sauce, but this is very good. The sugar mellows the asparagus, so I think even people who don't normally like asparagus would like it. It is a nice change of pace from butter and garlic.

Quick Lemon Dijon Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
This had a really nice, tangy flavor. I really liked the Creole Seasoning. It's not something I would've thought to add to something like this, but it tasted great. I think I would've prefered to just bake whole breasts with the sauce. I felt the sauce evaporated a bit on the stove. But for a quick meal, it worked out great.

Skillet Beef and Macaroni

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
I recently had to start eating gluten-free, and DH was craving Hamburger Helper. Don't ask me why, LOL. Anyway,I tried using gluten-free pasta, and it fit the bill, but tasted so much better than Hamburger Helper. . Both of us really enjoyed it. It was so easy, I don't know why anyone would do HH over this. I did add some mozerrella cheese to make it more like HH's pizza mac, but I tasted it beforehand, and it really didn't need it. It is very good as written. This is definitely going to be part of the rotation.

Adapting this to the oven as one reviewer suggeseted didn't work out for me. Though I love lemon pepper, it was way too peppery even though I cut the lemon pepper in half.

Savory Spinach Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2008
I love veggie and cream cheese casseroles, and this one is no exception. I do want to offer one bit of advice. Make sure you use real cream cheese or 1/3 fat Neufchatel cheese. I made the mistake of using garlic and herb whipped "cream cheese" since so many reviews suggested adding onion and garlic. I thought I was being so smart LOL. But it just doesn't taste the same. All that whipped milk and whey protien doesn't have the bite that real cream cheese has. It's much better to use the real thing and add your own spices.

Cola Onion Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2008
This is an easy, decent tasting recipe, but nothing to write home about. Maybe it is my diminished sense of smell from allergies, but I thought the flavor wasn't strong enough. This is despite the fact I even added half of another soup packet because I had four pork chops. DH was enthusiastic about it, so I may play with suggestions from other reviews.

Absolutely delicious! This recipe is aptly name as my DH raved and raved. I could tell it was the first recipe to really wow him in a long time. And it was so easy to make! The shallots make the sauce-- IMHO you should NOT substitute onion.

Tropical Strawberry

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2008
This tasted wonderful, but I will not be making this again. I have a "thing" about pulp in drinks--I hate it. And the pineapple when blended, shreds and creates little stringy bits. I could not find frozen, so I used canned, which possibly could be the cause, but I'm not convinced frozen would've been better. Because this is totally my issue, and the taste was good, I gave it 4 stars. You've inspired me to use pineapple juice and pineapple flavored yogurt with strawberry smoothies in the future, just not whole pineapple.
