Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
I first tried this recipe last year. I used suggested changes from others, substituting crushed fresh garlic for garlic powder and adding a can of Rotel tomatoes & chili peppers. My husband cannot get enough of this and I make a batch every other month! Since it is just for the two of us, I divide it into freezer containers for future meals throughout the month (it freezes and reheats wonderfully). I have also prepared it using pork roast or boneless, skinless chicken breasts and it is great with those meats also. This is a favorite and there is always a container or two in the freezer at our house now.

Fish Tacos

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
I had downloaded, printed, and saved this recipe last year because it sounded interesting. I finally prepared it this past weekend and am sorry I did not prepare it sooner! It was absolutely awesome! My husband loved it also and it is now a favorite which I will be preparing often in the future. I followed the recipe exactly as posted here, with no changes, and would not change a thing as it is perfection! To those of you using prebreaded fish you do not know what you are missing! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe!

Bohemian Pork Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2007
After years of unsuccessfully trying to duplicate a traditional Bohemian Pork Roast with gravy & dumplings Christmas dinner I had with a family of Bohemian ancestry back in the early 1970's, I stumbled across this recipe. I prepared it this Christmas along with gravy made from the pan juices and Spaetzle. My quest for the perfect Christmas Pork Roast from my past has now been ended. The only change I made to the original recipe was the addition of garlic powder in the rub. It was a huge hit with my family and I thank you so much for helping perfect my Christmas dinner. I will use this recipe for the rest of my life and hopefully pass it on to my children.

Slow Cooker Adobo Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2007
I had always heard how good Adobo Chicken was, but never tried it. I thought this recipe would be a good place to start and I was right! I followed the recipe using some reviewers suggestions of reducing soy sauce to 1/2 cup, adding a bay leaf and using red wine vinegar. I served it with steamed brown rice to soak up the heavenly juices and a nice green salad. This was so good and a huge hit with my husband. He said this is a definite keeper and requested that I make often! I agree, and will make it often as it is so easy to prepare, tasty, healthy and an economical dish as well.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
Wonderful cheesecake recipe! I made it this morning and following your directions with the exception of adding some finely chopped pecan and cinnamon to the crust and 1/2 tsp of lemon extract to filling. It turned out beautiful, no cracks, lovely texture and divine taste. My husband who is a big NY Cheesecake lover was impressed. Thanks for sharing this recipe, it is a definate keeper!

Hungarian Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
I only gave this recipe 4 stars as I have mixed feelings about this recipe. I followed the original recipe, even though I was leary of adding the sour cream at the beginning of simmering, and it turned out well (no curdling). I served it with homemade Amish egg noodles. While my husband and I liked it and ate it all in one sitting we both agreed it was not something we would want again. I think there was some flavor that was "off" in the sauce to our tastes, but can't figure out what it was exactly. Perhaps if I had substitled some tomato paste for the ketchup and sauteed some onions and/or mushrooms as suggested by others we may have liked it better. Still it was a good recipe, easy to fix with readily available ingredients.

Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
I have been making these cabbage rolls for years, although I have always baked mine, covered, in a 350 degree oven for an hour. I also add a 1/2 tsp garlic powder to the meat mixture for extra flavor. It is my youngest daughters' favorite dish. We like to serve them with homemade mashed potatoes.

Cream Cheese Kolacky

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
My mother received this recipe decades ago at a Christmas cookie exchange. It has become a family tradition for 3 generations now. It is my most requested recipe and I get in trouble if I do not make them at Christmas! Now I am looking forward to trying some of the other filling suggestions written in this recipe's reviews.

Rugelach

I found this recipe years ago and make it almost every Christmas. A family favorite. I also add mini-morsal semi-sweet chocolate chips to the cinnammon sugar mixture which really adds a new dimension to these great cookies.
