About this Cook
I have been married for 34 years, am the mother of one beautiful daughter who is soon to give me a wonderful granddaughter. I love to make people happy with my cooking. My grandmother was Polish and a great cook -- I think I get most of my creativeness from her. Thanks, Mater.
My favorite things to cook
Anything involving pasta, cobblers, bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom learned how to feed a family of 5 on very little money. She always made us feel like we were eating like royalty. Sometimes all five of us would eat potato soup (just potato and milk, salt and pepper) for supper, but Mom would put a pat of butter on top and sprinkle with parsley. Everything looked wonderful. She made pear salad look like a clown with lettuce for hair, raisins for eyes, etc. Making something spectacular out of nothing was her specialty and I like to follow in her footsteps.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking Thanksgiving dinner for 300+ people at Carolina Christian Academy -- turkey, dressing, mac and cheese, homemade cranberry relish, sweet potatoes. I had help but it was a huge undertaking that turned out pretty well.
My cooking tragedies
I made a banana pudding for my husband's birthday - his favorite. Someone had given me a lovely cut crystal bowl that I put the pudding in. I made the meringue and piled it on the pudding and placed the bowl under the broiler for just a second to brown the meringue. Needless to say, the bowl cracked and broke into a thousand pieces. No pudding for that birthday supper and a major mess to clean up in the oven--- and no more crystal bowl. :((

Anise Seed Rolls
Four stars only because i was afraid to do the dipping in the hot water. They are so tender when they have risen and i was afraid i would deflate them. I baked them anyway and they were wonderful--just perfect sweetness. i could get fat on them!!!:)
