About this Cook
I live in a rural area and work from home (medical transcription), which I love. I am married to my 2nd husband; we each have a grown son and 6 grandchildren between us. Enjoy most crafts; jewelry making, polymer clay, candle making, counted cross-stitch, as well as cooking. Have tried my hand at sewing and enjoy, but far from expert.
My favorite things to cook
Soups, casseroles, breads/rolls, grilling in the summer. Love to try new recipes. I am trying to learn more ways to use fresh ingredients for health and taste. Also exploring ways to use herbs and spices.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade everything, although I'm not adverse to using some already made ingredients in a dish, as long as it tastes good! I love applesauce made from Granny Smith apples and served warm. Love to make soups and casseroles, anything that allows me to be a little bit creative.

Cake Balls
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. These are incredible. I am making for the 5th or 6th time today and putting a maraschino cherry in the center, not because this recipe needs anything at all, but my husband loves chocolate covered cherries and I think he will really love these (he loves the original recipe w/o the cherries). I drained a jar of cherries for 10 minutes and then wrapped each one with the cake mixture. After I pulled all the stems off, it occurred to me that I probably should have left them on and used that to dip them (next time). Thank you again for sharing this recipe. I made several batches at Christmas and everyone loved them.

Cookie Jar Nut Cookies
These are delicious. I used pecans rather than walnuts, only because that is what I had. I also omitted the sugar on top. Love the slight nutmeg taste. They were soft and not too sweet. Very, very good. Thank you for this great recipe.

Oatmeal and Everything Bars
The taste was awesome but I too had a problem with it being very gooey. I tried the hint about baking the bottom for 12 minutes first, but it still came out too gooey to actually cut into bars. However, we will eat it, even if we have to use a spoon! I have it in the refrigerator now, hoping that I will be able to cut it when it's cold, but not too sure. I probably won't make this again because of the messiness of the finished product.
