About this Cook
I live in a rural area and work from home (medical transcription), which I love. I am married to my 2nd husband; we each have a grown son and 6 grandchildren between us. Enjoy most crafts; jewelry making, polymer clay, candle making, counted cross-stitch, as well as cooking. Have tried my hand at sewing and enjoy, but far from expert.
My favorite things to cook
Soups, casseroles, breads/rolls, grilling in the summer. Love to try new recipes. I am trying to learn more ways to use fresh ingredients for health and taste. Also exploring ways to use herbs and spices.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade everything, although I'm not adverse to using some already made ingredients in a dish, as long as it tastes good! I love applesauce made from Granny Smith apples and served warm. Love to make soups and casseroles, anything that allows me to be a little bit creative.

Slow Cooker Cheesy Potatoes
Excellent. I first made them for a buffet type family dinner. Everyone loved them.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies
These are excellent and easy to prepare. I made them for several cookie gift trays last Christmas and plan on making them again this year. Thanks for a great recipe!

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints
These are excellent. I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out great. I used a cork as I think someone suggested in another review for the "thumbprint" and used a 1/4 tsp measuring spoon to put the jam in with. I didn't have any problem with the jam running. Excellent cookies and very easy. I'm taking them to a cookie exchange but making an extra batch to keep at home! Love that subtle almond flavor with the slightly tart raspberry and sweet glaze.
