About this Cook
I'm a married 25yr-old full-time pharmacy student with a part-time job, but I love to cook when I get the chance!
My favorite things to cook
I love looking for new, healthy recipies that contain common, inexpensive ingredients since we are on a limited budget being that we are both in school. I love, love, love to bake, and would do it a lot more often if I had more people in the house to eat my creations than just my husband and I!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking Christmas cookies for family and friends during the holiday season and having soup on Christmas Eve.
My cooking triumphs
Making my first real cheescake that didn't even crack!
My cooking tragedies
When I was young, I once mistakenly made chocolate-chip cookies with pancake flour instead of normal flour... those cookies went straight to the trash :-) Also, anything that I am excited about that doesn't turn out just quite as good as I had imagined.

Green Tomato Cake
Great start on a cake! I pureed my tomatoes in the blender because I don't have a food processor. My only complaing is that I halved the salt on the tomatoes, and it was still quite salty. I washed the pieces well, and not all the salt came off. I would use 1/4 of the salt at most next time (and also leave it out of the batter). Other than that, it was great! Frosted it with a cream cheese frosting, and it tasted like a moist spice cake. Some of my husband's friends were over unexpectedly last night, and they devoured it!

Fruity Curry Chicken Salad
This is my favorite recipe for chicken salad. I've made it several times now, and it's always a little bit forgiving based on what I have in the pantry/fridge. I have used fat-free mayonnaise with success. Try it!

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna
Great recipe. Made a few changes but stayed relatively true to the recipe - doubled the garlic to 2 cloves and swapped cottage cheese for ricotta because that's what I had, and used MUCH LESS butter (maybe 1 Tbsp at most). Served it for my sister-in-law while she was visiting, and we all really enjoyed it. Thanks for the recipe!
