About this Cook
I'm 26 years old. My fiance and I just bought our first house, so we're finally trying to grow up and start eating at home. Only, I'm not the best cook. We're quickly finding that even purging the bad stuff, it's far less expensive than eating out every night.
My favorite things to cook
I am really enjoying baking. I love the way my co-workers light up as I bring them each new treat. I also really enjoy pies. I get a different sense of accomplishment from anything that comes completely from scratch.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from an unconventionally small Italian family. I had a single father and he did all of the cooking. He was so overprotective, he worried that I would burn myself.
My cooking triumphs
I'm finding that I'm generally good at following directions.
My cooking tragedies
I really like plain tortillas burnt to a crisp. My fiance swears that it's merely default due to my long time cooking skill.

Buffalo Chicken Dip
Really tasty and easy recipe. I whipped it together while giving friends directions to our house and had it ready by the time they got here. I usually stick to the recipe exactly first time around. This time I strayed just slightly. I put half of the ranch in before realizing it overpowered the other flavors. I cut it off at 3/4 C and added a little more Frank's Red Hot sauce. I'm glad I did. All the same, this is an excellent recipe.

Gingerbread Waffles
I made these as hangover food for a house full of guests over Halloween weekend. Everyone ate and enjoyed them, but no one seemed wowed. But, that might have been the hangovers. I loved them WITH the whipped cream and bananas. I think they were necessary additions. I'll definitely make these again closer to Christmas.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches
Very easy. I've learned from this "batch" that next time I should use the sweet barbecue sauce.
