Prior to being married I did not have an interest in cooking, I kind of assumed it would just come to me. My husband is from bible belt Tennessee home of good ole fashoined home southern cooking. After being in his family I started to find the desire to be able to cook like my grandmother used to and how his family cooks. Now I am living in Florida and combinig all the specialties of southern from his family, seafood from mine, in combination with the mixes of flavors I learned in Florida. We have our two babies our rottwieller and our shepard mix that enjoy my learning to cook also.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. My work designated me to bake a dessert each Friday, and I try to do something different each week.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chicken and Dumplins at every family gathering. Now I get to teach others how my grandmother used to do her dumplins. My grandmother was brilliant at taking the smallest amount of food and turning it into a banquet.
My cooking triumphs
Pumpkin bread, crab cakes, and dumplins.
My cooking tragedies
Some strange recipe that I tried off the Everyday Italian show that was supposed to be a dry pasta dish...the dogs didn't even eat it.
