My favorite things to cook
Spicy foods are a must in my diet! Living in the southwest, I enjoy access to a wide variety of peppers and regional spices. I'm not afraid to try out new dishes from other regions or countries either. I like to find a new recipe, try it a few times and then experiment with ingredients. I am currently enjoying sucess with a few Thai recipes, but I love Indian food most of all.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays are not a big deal in my family - Except for Thanksgiving! Then we pull out all the stops! My whipped candied yams are my sisters favorite, so I make them every year. We also have a family tradition of naming our turkeys. The name is based on the biggest turkey of the year. We have had a Michael Jackson turkey, a Mel Gibson, and years ago a pair of them we called Jim and Tammy! This year it will probably be a Brittney Spears turkey.
My cooking triumphs
I make a rocking pot of chili! Red or green, authentic southwest flavor.
My cooking tragedies
My baking skills leave something to be desired... I made dogs biscuts last year that my dog snubbed.
