About this Cook
I have two adorable kids- my daughter, Aiven, and my son, Urijah- and a great husband. I like to take traditional recipes and tweak them to make them healthy and more flavorful. My husband is a diabetic so we're very careful about what we eat, but it has to taste GREAT. I write about our family in my blog, tattoosandteethingrings.blogspot.com - come by and visit me!
My favorite things to cook
Family favorites include turkey burger sliders, homemade pizza, pizza pasta, spinach and turkey meatballs, fried chicken...lots of yummy stuff!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have always done a big Thanksgiving, even if there were only four people. And now I'm teaching my daughter how to cook, so hopefully she won't be living on take-out when she goes to college.
My cooking triumphs
I have finally mastered a homemade pizza crust. I'm most proud of being able to cook foods that really are healthy and delicious, so that we don't even think of it as "health" food, just yummy food.
My cooking tragedies
Until recently I couldn't make homemade pizza dough. Other than that, I can't think if anything that wasn't at least edible.

Cranberry Fruit Punch
Really good; I made some ice cubes out of both the pineapple and cranberry juices. I can't give it 5 stars because I felt like the ginger ale made it taste just slightly off; I will probably use seltzer next time or maybe lemon-lime soda.

Mini Cheesecakes II
I found that the nilla wafers weren't big enough to cover the bottom of the cupcake liner, and also the cheesecake was a little too cakey. If I try these again I will probably make a graham cracker crumb crust and add some sour cream to the cheesecake batter.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
The dough was very easy to work with after 12 hours in the fridge. I didn't think the taste was amazing, but sugar cookies are generally pretty plain; my main reason for not rating 5 stars was that they were a little too puffy and didn't hold detail very well. Next time I will roll them thinner, which will hopefully help with the puffiness.
