Double Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
Thank You So Much! My mother passed away over twenty years ago and never taught me how she made her wonderful chocolate pie. I have been missing it and looking for a similar recipe for a long time. This is the closest yet. She used the egg whites to make a meringue, (just like the ones on a lemon meringue pie) and the golden peaks of meringue takes the recipe from 'super yummy' to 'out of this world yummy' for me.

Swampy Green Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2009
This soup is really yummy. I loved it just as it is (except for taking the advice to halve the oil). It is filling and rich. I poured a little bit of half 'n half I had left from another recipe into each bowl and gave it a swirl, it looked great that way.

Cornbread I

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
This is fantastic! Perfect. If you add sugar and honey to it you deserve to have it scorch. When did people decide that cornbread needed to be sweet and cake-like? This is a also gluten-free recipe and very much like the cornbread my Tennessee side of the family make. Thank you for sharing. Nelly.

Chicken with Garlic, Basil, and Parsley

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
We are eating a lot of chicken lately and I was getting tired of all mmy usual fave recipes. This was easy and delicious. I still have fresh herbs from the garden and I don't use salt, but otherwise I made the recipe exactly as written. This is a keeper.

'Angry' Italian Bean Spread

Yummmo! I am making a batch right now and it is tasty. I did make my own Arrabbiata sauce (recipe on this site), 'cos I didn't want to wait until I went grocery shopping to try this recipe.

Creamy Italian Dressing I

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
This is a fantastic recipe. I make chicken tacos with store bought creamy Italian dressing, but from now on I will use this instead. I made it exactly as written and love it! For my tacos I may try it with half mayo and half yogurt to cut the fat a little. Thanks for sharing.

Best Zucchini Appetizer

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
Great use for surplus zucchini! I always look for new interesting ways to use my garden bounty. I used a wheat and gluten-free baking mix because of allergy. GF Baking requires a bit more liquid so I added half a cup of low-fat milk. Did reduce oil to 1/3 c. It was delicious. For a maindish the next time I added half a pound of browned ground turkey and a pinch of Italian seasoning. This is a keeper. I put a bottle of hot sauce on the table so everyone could spice it up or not.

Almond Flour Waffles

Heavenly! I am allergic to wheat and gluten so this is great! I woke up this morning and wondered what to make for breakfast, luckily I checked my email first and found this recipe. It's a keeper! I took some mixed berries from the freezer and microwaved them with a little Splenda to serve over them and broke out the yogurt as you suggested.Yummm! Thanks for sharing.

I am making this right now. The brown sugar makes all the difference in the world. Easy, tastes great, gets raves from all. I'll never buynthe canned stuff again.

Velvety Pumpkin Soup With Blue Cheese and Bacon

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
This soup Rocks! I made it exactly as published, even though I was a little worried about the molasses. It turned out delish! The only change I had to make was to substitute feta cheese for the bleu cheese. I'm allergic to wheat and can't use moldy cheese because the mold is grown on bread.

Jalapeno Pepper Jelly

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
This is great! I buy ready made Jalapeno Jelly and it is EXPENSIVE! Now I make my own and it is easy and good. I made it exactly as written. Eat it on a plain old soda cracker with a tiny dab of creamcheese...Heaven! Then I made super hot jelly with red bell peppers and habanero chilies...WOW! Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Eagle Salad

OK, so this is a great basic recipe that can be 'tweaked' as much or as little as you want. I had a huge package of elbow macaroni that I didn't know what to do with so this is perfect. I used water packed tuna and a little more mayo my hubby wanted Miracle Whip in his.

Awesome easy recipe! So easy to adapt to one's own taste and ingredients on hand. I avoided the "drain beans or not" debate, because I make beans from scratch to avoid too much sodium. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for this recipe. I lost a favorite recipe that used cocoa powder and this is the closest I've found so far. I did double the butter as others have suggested.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
This recipe rocks! I discovered the possibility of crock-pot dressing years ago when my old oven went to oven heaven on Thanksgiving Day! I cooked the turkey on my mom's FarberWare rotisserie and had baked everything else the day before. But what about the dressing and yams? I cooked the dressing in my large crock-pot and roasted the yams in a small one. The stove top was still working so gravy, cranberry sauce etc. were o.k. I am from the south, so I use cornbread mixed in with the bread cubes.

Bandito Beans

This recipe is great! Even finicky Hubby loved it. I even left out the brown sugar and it was still yummy. The next day I took the leftovers and added a cup of v8 juice, a cup of water and a can of stewed tomatoes and turned it into a nice bean soup.
