I've been making these for years! I always mix in cheap beef franks cut up and I've never added the brown sugar. My kids love them, they request them often. Even my 18 year old baby brother asks for them still, I started making them when he was 2. I have always used the cheapest hot dogs in this as they do make it taste more like the real thing and the beef is for flavor not religious reasons.

Wonderful. I halved the recipe and put the ketchup on top instead of mixing it in and I added a small clove of minced garlic. Fantastic! Only 4 stars because my family still likes my usual recipe better. I was out of bread crumbs and so found this. I will definitely use it again.
