I started cooking professionaly when I got my first job at 16 in a locally owned Italian Restaurant. I started cooking for my family using many of the recipes I used at work. As I got older I learned how to tweak it into my own. When I was 20 years old I got a job at a Bakery and learned how to make pastries and bread.
My favorite things to cook
I like making Stir fry's and Asain food at home. It's healthier and tastes a lot better. I love to bake cookies to quick breads, fresh rolls or cakes. And especially cheesecakes, during the holiday's I am always expected to bring one along.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family can't really cook, except for me. My mother used to cook a lot when I was yonger and I loved her food. But I think she watches too much FoodTV and tries too change what she knows and her meals aren't as appealing anymore. But she does make the best Meatballs and Sauce ever! And we both make the best stuffing in our family; she says mine is better, but I still prefer hers:)
My cooking triumphs
For my one neices birthday I made her a Bunny cake. She was so excited when she saw it. Her eyes just lit up and screamed "It's a bunny, I love bunnies".
My cooking tragedies
I was making a double recipe cake which was going to be decorated like the game board CandyLand for my boyfriends birthday party. After putting the first layer of frosting on, I wanted to cool it down in the fridge. As I was putting it in the fridge it hit the side of the door and dropped on the floor. It was already too late to make a new one so I made a cookie pizza at like 2 in the morning, everyone still loved it and few new what happened to the Candy Land cake that night.
