Well I am a San Diego raised guy who is always looking for new and exciting things to try in a kitchen or out on the grill. I am not married (yet) and I do not have any children. I frequently attend Football and Baseball games in San Diego. There is nothing like standing over the grill cooking for a party of 2 to 50 depending on the event with beers and soft drinks in everyones hand and haveing a great time under the California sun. Sorry to anyone not living in San Diego.
My favorite things to cook
Well how can i pick some favorites. I am at home outside working from the BBQ. I love to smoke Baby Back ribs or a nice 10 lb brisket with all types of different flavors of wood. Tri tip is also great but i like to put a pepper rub on it and trow it right over the coals. (never gas) Then I can get down in the kitchen also. I have such a great maranera sauce to go with a lasuana or spagetti. I love left overs during the week so i will make enough fopr dinner and then pick and choose during the week what to take for lunch. I've got a great meat loaf also. I love to cook all kinds of things, I would say I feel at home when I am cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Well I dont really know if we had any. Every Thanksgiving we would go to Arizona and get together with my Dads side of the family. There would be about 30 of us or so. But I do know that every year for the super bowl we would put out a big spread of finger foods and my mom would make her famous Meatballs and her Chillicheese dip and everyone would just come over and eat it all up and at half time we go play a quick game of 2 hand touch football in the street. Then someone who drank to much of the adult punch would relive their glory days and get a little to rough and youo get the idea. Butu it was nice. Mabye I will do arrange to start doing that at my house since we dont go home much anymore.
My cooking triumphs
I am currently starting my Own BBQ sauce Buisness. All I ever hear is how great all of my sauces are. I am calling it " Big C's BBQ Sauce. An American BBQ sauce you can Trust. I would put my recipes on this website but those are all kept secret. Cant have everyone out there making my sauces, I would never sell them. I made a wedding cake once for a girlfriend of mine. She always thought I was such a great cook. I never really liked baking but she insisted i try it. So I looked into it and created one of the best looking wedding cakes I have ever seen. I made it into 4 different levels with pilars and the whole 9. Never will do it again but it was definetly a masterpiece.
My cooking tragedies
Nothing is a Tragedy as long as you learn from it and dont repeat it. And I have learned a lot I will tell you. Right off the top of my head I can remember the first time I was going to make a soup or stew. I was just going to go thru the fridge, freezer and pantry and make a soup. So I am adding this like vegis and chicken and different kind of spices and broths. Then i think to myself those chicken and rice soups are good mabye I should put some rice in it. So I have this huge stock pot going on the stove nowwith all these other ingrediants in it almost filled to the top and I add 4 or 5 cups of rice. Cover it and let it cook on low heat for 20 minutes. THen I go to stir and it looks fine and i leave it for another 20 minutes. this time when i go to stir it everything is not fine. Since the rice was un cooked rice it just kept absorbing all the fluids to where I had none left. It ended up being one of the worst things I ever made. But I learned from it, and thats all that matters.
