About this Cook
I am a stay at home mom who loves to cook. I was vegetarian for most of my life until I had kids. I decided then to eat fish and poultry to better nourish my children. I still like to cook very healthy and try to do organic as well. I have been in the kitchen since I was 2, and created my first recipe at age 6. I love a challenge and wouldn't say anything is too hard for me to cook.
My favorite things to cook
I love flavor. And I love to create it in a healthy dish. I love to create when I have nothing. I am the queen of making dinner when I have nothing. And somehow they always turn into my favorite recipes. Although I never measure so that makes it hard to remember how much of everything I put in.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have many cooking traditions. I am jewish and somehow us jews really like to eat. Every occasion has a tradition along with it. We make Hootie owls and halloween, sugar cookies at the "holidays", Apple dumplings in the fall....the list goes on and on.
My cooking triumphs
I made the best herbed pork loin and roasted potato's. My husbands grandfather told me it was the best meat he had eaten in 50 years. Coming from him....it was the best compliment.
My cooking tragedies
I made a jambalaya one time that was awful. I put a smoked turkey sausage in it and it just didn't work. I still can't get my husband to let me try that one again.

Mulligatawny Soup I
I have eaten this since I was a little girl. One of my favorite recipes. I add my cooked rice at the end....in the bowl. That way leftovers will still have that soup quality. Otherwise it turns to mush....and I don't use any cream. I don't think it is needed....less fat that way too!!

Cathy's Banana Bread
I try to make this every time I have "extra ripe" bananas. It never makes it more than 24 hours in my house.

Simple Whole Wheat Bread
What an easy wonderful recipe. Me and my 4 year old made this and ate most of it at lunch. Will make again and again!
