The most Disgusting Food on Earth!

Ever since I was a little kid, I've hated ketchup! I don't know why, I've tried it several times through-out the years and I just want to gag every time I taste it. I do not have a bottle in my fridge, I use other stuff in meatloaf or other recipes that call for ketchup. BBQ sauce is a great substitution. My mom would make meatloaf for dinner and would actually make me go outside while she was making it so I couldn't see the ketchup going into the mixture. But I always knew, I can distinguish the taste. My dad would always have some clever saying, such as: "When the pig gets full the food gets sour". Like that would make me want to eat it. Everybody I know knows that I hate ketchup, they just think I'm weird...mustard on French fries, hashbrowns, mustard on everything! But no ketchup. My husband, bless his heart, puts up with this quirk of mine and has stopped even requesting it when I go to the store. I have tried to make the sacrifice for him many times, but, as my hestitant hand is reaching for the ketchup bottle, my stomach knots up and I just can't do it. And I cannot sacrifice my precious refrigerator space for a disgusting bottle of UGH! When I go out to eat Chinese, I NEVER eat the red dipping sauce, I know what's in there! I just come off from a year's employment at a Chinese restaurant and had to learn how to make the stuff. Somehow, I always managed to skip over this task. I'm not sure my former employer would get the jist of what I was trying to tell her, that if I had to handle ketchup, I was going to throw up...probably not something she would want me to do in a restaurant. And when I had to make upthe little dishes of red dipping sauce, I would hold my breath, clench every muscle in my body, close my eyes and run it out to the table to get the offensive dish of GROSS outta my hand! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE tomatoes. But I, from the bottom of my very soul, HATE ketchup! And, bottled BBQ sauce from the store is never in my fridge either...I jsut know they snuck some of that nasty stuff into their stuff...I make my own, from scratch, using tomato sauce and paste...absolutely no ketchup!!

My boyfriend and his SIL are the same way. My boyfriend eats his hash browns and french fries with hot sauce and his SIL eats her with mustard. I always thought, "Who doesn't like ketchup?" But I guess a lot of people don't :)

Great story! I went through a phase when I was a kid where I could not stand ketchup for a while. Because it reminded me of the smell of the haunted house at halloween!

Love, love, love your posts...I have laughed so hard at some of your methhead descriptions and the stories about your pets. I lived for awhile in upstate New York (on the Canadian border)in an old farmhouse with no electricity. So, I can understand the cooking frustrations. It's amazing what you can figure out when you have no other choice, though. One year we ended up doing a duck on a grill rotissiere for Thanksgiving, thinking the woodstove would take too long. No one told me how much fat is in a duck...needless to say we had a flaming grill and mostly inedible duck. Thank goodness for side dishes!! As far as the catsup goes, I am exactly the same with peas. I've been cooking for over 30 years and have yet to open a can. Chalk it up to a "domineering" older brother babysitter who decided I needed to have a huge pile on my plate one meal as a kid. As a kid who ate no vegetables except potatoes (ok, french fries!) I swallowed each pea with a gulp of water, kind of like taking aspirin. I cannot tolerate the smell, color or consistency of a pea. My sister-in-law in FL finally talked me into trying guacamole. I could barely get past the color but now love it freshly made. Hope you find something to keep you busy now that you aren't working. But, hey, you don't have to worry about the slacker dog walker since you'll be around for the babies. Take care and keep writing. Notice how many comments your blog gets compared to most others?!!!

I have a burning question on my mind. Why do they have to put mustard right next to ketchup on the condiment aisle at the grocery store? OMG, it's like heaven and he!! all wrapped into one! (but ketchup is outnumbered cuz I really like mayo, as well!

Thought this was going to be about Octopus or something, LOL. Guess my yucko is fried okra, waay to slimy. My problem with ketchup is my husband loves to slather it over everything, come on now, I just fixed Beef Stroganoff with just the right flavors in the sauce and there he goes with the ketchup. No, it's not what you think, everyone else loves my cooking, well at least they say so...

That's too funny! You would not like to ride in our car when we return from Canada to Ohio. My children insist that Canadian Ketchup Heinz is different than American Ketchup Heinz...so we have had many border guards look at us with suspicion when we cross the border with 15 large ketchup bottles!

WW. My daughter is the same way. SHE HATES IT WITH EVERY OUNCE OF HERSELF! She is a mustard and BBQ sauce girl too. Loves the fresh tomatoes that I grow but for reasons that can't be explained by her, it just skeeves her out too. Always order at the drive thru....mustard & pickle only. No ketchup. She always gets ketchup. Never fails.

There IS a difference between the US and Cdn Heinz ketchup! :) Witchywoman, hilarious blog, I know you probably didn't mean it to be hilarious, but it was amusing nonetheless...everyone has their quirks..and look at this way, ketchup is loaded with SUGAR and mustard ISN'T! I know what you mean, avon...I have been known to drive the 5 miles back to town to take a hamburger back that they screwed up on. I just automatically tell them no ketchup. Even on a big mac, and they don't come with ketchup but I am making double sure!

Thank goodness- someone else has ketchuphobia! I am much more grossed out by mayonnaise, but I have hated ketchup my whole life. Unfortunately, my four-year-old loves it, and I have to plug my nose when I pour it for her, or I gag. I will only let her have it on a paper plate, because I won't even wash a dish with ketchup on it!

OMG! patte...that is EXACTLY how I feel, it's the smell, it's the taste, it's the color on a burger...it's just not right! And do you all remember a while back when they made purple and green ketchup? Holy toxic waste on a burger!! ((((gagging!!!))))

Lol! I loved your post. I am the exact opposite. I love ketchup, but loathe fresh tomatoes. Can't stand the things! They make me gag! I can tell when I go to a burger place and they put the tomato on and then pick it back off. I can still taste that horrible fresh tomato juice. It's making my stomach clench up just to think about it! YUCK!

Still laughing! I don't care for ketchup much at all - I think most people who grew up in Europe don't. The combination of pickles and ketchup is VILE !! I do love mayo and all kinds of mustard though.

My oldest daughter would drink the stuff if she could! I use it in my sloppy joes for the grandkids but that is it. All the grandkids love the stuff except 1. He does A! on everything. Me, I love chicken and I love tomatoes and tomato sauces but can not stand tomatoes with chicken, Nor eggs with cheese. UGH! flips my belly like a flapjack on a hot griddle.

I don't hate ketchup, but I don't use it much any more. I switched over to Chili Sauce a couple years back (less vinegar, red peppers instead of tomatoes, less sugar than BBQ sauce). Works for me!

I just don't get the ketchup thing. Cuz anything you put ketchup on tastes like ketchup. I'm the same way about onions. My friend always tells me "If you would just try them". I have tried them!!! I hate them!

I've always loved ketchup but lately it's been grossing me out if it's in other foods. Like in a pot roast I recently tried here..Heinz Chili Sauce...tasted like roast beef and ketchup!! Bleh, I couldn't eat it. And orange beef at a highly rated Chinese restaurant...was cubed steak in ketchup sauce! BLEH. I think I'm converting to the anti-ketchup camp!

My momma used to live near a Hunts factory in Oakland Ca and you could tell what they were producing that day by the smell. Ketchup day was pretty alright, but tomatoe paste day was disgusting. Too pugnent. Me, I hate lima beans and spam. Bad childhood memories.

have you ever tried homemade ketchup - it is totally different from the commercial guck. It is much more like your homemade BBQ sauce, actually. I was floored the first time I tasted "real" ketchup.

I can eat ketchup as an ingredient, but straight, like on fries, no can do. Bought some up in Canada this summer and brought home, they don't use corn syrup and it did taste tangy instead of sugar sweet. There is a recipe for homemade ketchup in the Saveur mag #117 Jan/Feb 09 that someday I am going to try. It does seem to look like more of a BBQ sauce. Raining today in Forks?

My 16 year old daughter is in complete agreement with you. She finds ketchup absolutely repulsive. She eats mustard on french fries too! Now I know she is not alone. BTW - I feel the same way about raw celery, root beer, and black jelly beans. We all have our quirks, I guess.

kathy, I like tofu for these reasons: it actually does have some nutritional value, it tastes like whatever you cook it with and hot & sour soup just wouldn't be the same without tofu! They also call it bean curd, in case anyone doesn't know! Ketchup, on the other hand, doesn't do much of anything except sit there and gross you out! But everyone is different, I know, I eat some pretty horrendous stuff in other people's opinions...lol!

i'm not too hot about ketchup either, but i do like mustard, but had never tasted it till i was pregnant with my first, one night we were at my folks and i knew i wanted a mustard/sardine sandwich. luckly mom had everything, and i've loved mustard ever since. with the second pregnancy it was apricots and vanilla icecream mixxed together.

I absolutely HATE ketchup on meatloaf, but i LOVE it on burgers and fries. My uncle puts it on his spaghetti! gross! My sis loves the stuff, she will suck it out of those little packets at fast food places

I'm new to allrecipes.com. Have to say I'm in the other camp: love (well okay, like) ketchup but really don't care for raw tomatoes. Interesting that witchywoman also doesn't like maple syrup; my daughter also dislikes ketchup and maple syrup. hmmmm wonder if there's a connection there... My total gross-out foods: artichokes, anything black licorice, miracle whip, almonds & walnuts, oh and this last one I think I'm allergic to because I literally vomit if I eat even a little: bell peppers! which sucks because people put them in everything these days. But I have no problem at all with chili peppers.... weird huh? Does anyone have good substitution suggestions for recipes with bell peppers in them?

Now Ketchup isn't my favorite, but darn close. I prefer mustard. I absolutely LOATH bell peppers. I can't stand the smell or taste of them. If they are cooked into a dish I can taste them. I sauted some for my hubby to put on fajitas...thats when he knew I truly loved him.

omg! I recently had a breakthrough and realized that the reason I HATE Ketchup is because every time my dad had seafood or especially fish sticks he would use ketchup instead of cocktail sauce. I was a very picky eater but I was upset that he would not afford us cocktail sauce and 2 this day I will not go near ketchup but ALWAYS stock cocktail sauce in my fridge. Talk about hangups!?

When the kids were young my daughters friend Terry was over for dinner and I made spaghetti. Before I could add the sauce Terry drowned hers in ketchup. It was frightening watching this kid actually eat this!

WW, I have so enjoyed your posts. I know how you feel about ketchup. Only time I can handle it is on a hamburger with loads of mustard. I use mustard in anything. I also love cocktail sauce and Wasabi! :D

Love ketchup,love mustard but hate mayonnaise. I will put it on a sandwich and scrape most of it off before I put the sandwich together. I only like mayonnaise on TOMATO sandwiches and pickle sandwiches. I guess we all have some weird taste.

When I was in high school, a lady I babysat for told me to make dinner, which was grilled cheese with mac-n-cheese on the side. The kids refused to eat it until I put ketchup on the table, then they dipped the cheese sandwiches in ketchup, and sprinkled it on their macncheese. I had never before seen such a thing, but they begged me to try it, and okay, it was edible, but it's not on my favorite list. In other quirks, hubby won't eat coconut, parmesan, or spinach. (three of my FAVORITE foods) :-(

LOL! I am not a ketchup fan myself. I just don't go as far as you do... I will eat it on a hotdog with mustard and onions or with crinkle fries, but that is it. BBQ sauce takes over for the rest, and my regular fries I do mayo mixed with bbq sauce.. My big ick is brussel sprouts! I won't even bring them into my house and I won't stick around if anyone else is cooking them. I just luck out because none of my kids or my husband eat them. I will make room for the ketchup in the fridge for everyone though...:)

I like Ketchup and always have.... that is so funny that you can't even buy a bottle and have it in the house for your husband! Maybe is just reminds you of blood of something. I HATE BEETS! OMG they are horrible my Grandmother used to make BEET soup..... It was pink and really STINKY! I think GOD was having a bad moment when we created the BEET. I also hate Tapioca Pudding and Rice Pudding the consistency is like PUKE..... YUK I just can't do it!

I'm so glad to know that other people hate ketchup. My daughter would drink it as a beverage if I would let her. Both of my sons take after me; I thought maybe it was a "girl" thing until the brother of one of her friends came over and poured ketchup on everything except the pound cake I served with dinner. YUCK! It just grosses me out.

(LOL) I thought my 9-yr old son was the only kid who dipped his popcorn in ketchup! We're all ketchup fans, but not fanatics. I was able to get my son to dip his grilled cheese into hot tomato soup, (I called it hot ketchup the first time), and he loved it! Wouldn't touch the soup until then.

I went through a phase where ketchup aka catsup was a garnish for almost every food I ate in elementary school. Scrambled eggs, bolonga, ham and and cheese sandwiches were smothered in the red condiment Of course the standard hamburger, french fries were dipped so no bite wasn't 25% ketchup. Steaks, although, then and to this day require A1 sauce. But something happened ketchup has lost its overwhelming appeal. Rather than twenty packs at a restaurant I can now get by on a single one on an order of fries, a bottle of ketchup now stays in my house for a year rather than a week. Perhaps now salsa is my more desired condiment. I however loathe, always have, always will liver and peas. I laughed at the pea story. I too when forced to "try" them, swallowed them whole, like aspirin one at a time. I also use to "hide" them in those aluminum non see-through glasses. I would watch carefully for my moment to destroy the evidence without being caught. Not that my mother would ever connect the glass full of peas to me. And liver may I say more...might as well just gave me ipecac, I am sure if I was poisoned liver would have also served a a good substitute. So now ketchup, like spagetti-o's is no longer an everyday staple..but liver and peas remain good only if I need a quick antidote for poison.

I don't really like it either but done revolt it like you do. Such a common item too. My husband and boys will eat it on anything! Even my roast with mushroom gravy, they ruin with ketchup.

I won't EVER eat ketchup either! When I was a kid, they brought me a McDonald's hamburger. It had ketchup on it, I rinsed off the ketchup under the kitchen sink. I love tomatoes and any thing that has tomatoes in it. When I order french fries, I ask for a side of thousand island dressing to dip the fries in. I never liked mustard either. My brother puts ketchup on EVERYTHING. When I was young, I watched him put it on eggs and everything else, then smoosh all the food together. Watching him eat, grossed me out! Maybe thats why I don't like ketchup!

Funny....I have found that I can eat almost anything prepared well. Thought I hated Lima beans until I had fabulous bbqd lima beans.I was a picky eater as a kid, but my husband enlarged my dining repetoire. Still struggle with liver. Texture grainy and wierd flavor. Will not eat foi gras because of what they do to the goose to get it. Jeez I just threw up a bit in my mouth :)

love this thread! i, too, dislike ketchup, but i don't care for mayo/miraclewhip either. order burgers "no sauce": In-n-Out cheeseburger lettuce, pickle, onion, tomato only. when kids were little if ketchup were there they'd eat cauliflower, brussel sprouts, whatever. ewww, just saw the above post re: limas...well.....guess my short list of dislikes has gotten longer, lol. also after keeping off lots of weight for 5 yr perhaps i'm pickier about what i'll spend calories on. why can't i dislike sweets? (oh----worst food/drink: cheetos and beer, hubby's fav!!!) go figure

I like ketchup; I eat it with fries and fried potatoes and onion rings and fish sticks. It has its place though; ketchup on burgers and hot dogs is disgusting, and I thought I would gag when I went to dinner with some friends one night and one of them poured ketchup on her well-done filet mignon - but to me, the most vile food on earth is raisins. When I was a kid, I used to call them "cancer cells". To this day, if anything has a trace of raisin in it, I absolutely refuse to eat it. Strangely, this only applies to those gross little black-brown-purple raisins. I like golden raisins and currants and regular grapes (and I love wine!!) but raisins just give me the creeps. Maybe it's the texture or their little wrinkled appearance or the fact that they look like they might get up and crawl away at any second; they also taste weird. There are not many foods I absolutely will not eat, but raisins is one of them, along with grapefruit(that stuff comes straight from hell) and licorice or anything that tastes like it. I always keep a bottle of ketchup in my fridge, though. I am not a ketchup freak like some people, but I like it and it's good on some things. If you want to torture me to the point of giving up goverment secrets, though, just threaten me with a raisin-grapefruit-anise salad.

Love ketchup, but prefer bbq sauce. I can not eat a burger without the stuff. However I hate mayo with a passion. It goes so far as i can not even watch other people eating it. I freak if it touches anything I have to eat and i refuse to wash a dish that has had it on there. ick

My brother likes ketsup but not fresh tomatoes.I can take or leave katsup, but what I can't stand is jell-o, or canned cranberries for that matter. The thought of the slimy stuff slurping from the can "flips my belly like a flapjack on a hot griddle"!

I can totaly relate to the jello thing I recently had a surgery where all I could eat was clear liquids for about 2 weeks so just the thought of it makes me wanna yak. As for the bell peppers can't stand them either so when it comes to a recipe that calls for them I just don't put them in or I substitute them with onions. not a big fan for catsup but my little one is the older one is a dorthy lynch fan.

My boyfriend and daughter will put ketchup on everything..I will choose ranch dressing every time. I don't really like tomatoes, but BBQ sauce or hot sauce is ok, even salsa. I prefer ranch on fries and even dip a burger in it. Even Pizza sauce, I would prefer to have garlic ranch or alfredo sauce.

I don't eat ketchup. Seemed like a kid's food to me. I don't put it in meatloaf either, that is just gross. Ketchup doesn't belong on any foods...too sweet and uggghh. Hard to explain...like eating sweet pickles and drinking orange juice.

I share your lifelong unfavorable opinion (disdain) regarding ketchup. My friends are amused but perplexed. I make my own sauces that I use in place of that vile ketchup. To humor visiting relatives, I do save fast food packets from wherever in the fridge...they take up less space!

Well I can tollerate Ketchup, but to me the most disgusting food in the world is LIVER; my stepdad used to make me eat that , and If I got sick; well too bad, I ate more. so I gag when I even think of it.I even quiver, I have made it for my husband as he loves it, but I use a face mask, and gloves. silly I know but I just can;t help it.

I do not mind ketchup, in small amounts. I have had a lot of surgeries and my tastes have changed each time, not sure why. I hate liver, and oddly I can't stand Lucky Charms cereal, I had a babysitter who made me eat a bowl of it when I was ill and I ended up violently "losing" the whole bowl right after I finished it. (shudder) I can't deal with it at all. Nasty!!! Oddly, I LOVE to eat medium cheddar cheese sliced with sweet pickles. go figure. (Mind you, when I was pregnant, I loved to dip dill pickles in mint chocolate ice cream, lol)

Hilarious! I'm curious to taste American ketchup to find out the difference. My food pet peeve is pickled hot or sweet peppers. Growing up, my parents used to pickle almost anything you can think of and I'd say almost every meal had a plate of pickled something (usually the hot peppers) sitting on the table. GAG! For that reason it took me many years to get used to Dill Pickles (which I love BTW). And as much as my taste has matured and I love new foods, I can't get over the memory of the sour "stench" of those shiny, drippy pickled peppers. I refuse to kiss my husband if he's eaten a fastfood burger with hot peppers on it. I can smell it on his breath. Vile!

Your story is cute and quite entertaining. The food that I hate is liver. When I was young, I went to a family gathering and not knowing that the meat in the gravy was liver - I took a bite. My mother said that I turned green. There I was with a mouth full of the offensive liver in my mouth. The house was full and I could not bring myself to interrupt the gathering by throwing it up. It took everything in me and I finally swallowed it. I eventually excused myself and rinsed my mouth out repeatedly to get it out of my teeth. That was when I decided to never take a bite of anything until I knew what it was.

There's no ketchup in my house either. Hate the stuff. Don't like tartar sauce either - I use blue cheese dressing instead - there's a long list of stuff I don't keep in the house except for baking, milk, yogurt, bread, eggs (disgusting), coffee, mustard, ketchup. Thank goodness I live alone, no one else would put up with my idiosyncracys. However, chocolate is always welcome.

Funny (good funny, not weird funny), it shows how food really is a personal experience. I'm on the total opposite side of the spectrum. There's almost nothing I won't eat if it looks, smells, or known to be good. I have a little trouble with grubs and some of the really strange food items (like New Guinea tribes eating raw bats-ugg). I also have genetic hemochromatosis so have to REALLY watch my iron intake (thanks to my ice age scandinavian/celtic hunter-gatherers ancestors.

When my son was little he couldn't get enough ketchup it went on everything up till he was about 7 or 8 now at 17 he still won't touch it but uses bbq sauce on everything,even thanksgiving turkey.

Fester we went to Forks this summer on our way to La Push to see the ocean. Everything and I do mean EVERYTHING had Twilight on it. We didn't stop and I have 3 teens who were sick to see all the tourist . We finally stopped at a spot that said Now entering Werewolf country, Vampires not welcome. We loved it and found many Twilight sick folks there. We have watched Twilight and my daughter has read all the books but Forks is pushing the insanity beyond limits. :D Tina

Fester's Love...I would give my eye teeth to live back in Forks, the small town is great, times were way simpler and life was overall just plain good there and after living in larger towns for all of my adult life, I am so grateful for the experience of growing up there. I never, however, in my wildest dreams, imagined that my little hometown would become famous...and, no, contrary to popular belief, it does not rain ALL the time there, but our famous saying was: It must be turning into summer because the rain is getting warmer!

I haven't been up there since before all this Twilight hype...but, knowing how bad the economy is (it's a little logging town that was hopping during the 70's) it just doesn't suprise me that that is the case, Divemistress...they are just tying to make a living like everyone else. I only like ketchup on fries and burgers, and then only a tiny amount. When I put too much the ketchup-y taste makes me gag. My mum puts it on pasta and pizza, which I think is disgusting. Other than that, this is a list of the foods I wouldn't eat if you paid me: mustard, BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, cheese (all kinds except mozzarella), guava, cantaloupe, spinach, mushrooms, butter, margarine, sushi, raw onions, vinegar, sour cream,along with some other stuff I can't remember right now:)

Hominy. Period. When I was a kid we were really really poor so neighbors would give us stuff out of their cupboards to feed the six of us kids and guess what was NEVER in short supply? HOMINY! To me it tastes like solidified "bad breath"! The others I will NOT eat or taste to this DAY are puffed rice, powdered milk, and what we used to call, "oleo"(today's margarine)....The puffed rice and powdered milk were government surplus at the time and well, "oleo" or margarine if you prefer, is just yellow salted GREASE that can never substitute for real BUTTER. "Can't believe it's not butter"?......oh YES I can!

I hate ketchup too! Just this morning I stole a bite of my husband's burger, and he had forgotten that I don't like it. I about threw up. Recently, I worked at a burger joint, and had to make fry sauce almost every week. The absolute worst part of the job! I use ranch on my fries, etc.

I know you hate ketchup, but take a cup of it, a tablespoonish (i like more) of worchestershire sauce, and a 1/4 c. of loosely packed brown sugar and heat gently over the stove until the brown sugar is completely dissolved and the ketchup is steaming gently. I promise you, no matter how much you hate ketchup, you'll wanna use this on everything you grill.

Hi, I'm a new member and I loved your ketchup story! I think all of us have foods we don't like, but foods we cannot tolerate whatsoever are probably fewer. The one for me that makes me sick, literally, is BANANAS! Can't stand the taste, consistency, or the smell. Period! To me they are beyond revolting. Which is too bad, because I know they're healthy, portable, and have a great natural packaging. Went to a IHOP restaurant the other day - they had 4 desserts, and three of them included bananas!! Yuk!

Ketchup is okay on fries...period. I didn't think I had any real food HATES until someone mentioned *gulp* h-h-hominy *gag* Growing up in West Virginia, I had great-aunt who couldn't cook a lick. And the one thing that she could not cook the best was h-h--you know. She loved to not be able to cook it in EVERYTHING!! I haven't thought of this in years. I hate the smell of ketchup!! I will only eat it if it is room temperature.... I will not eat it out of the fridge!!! And, fast food places put toooo much- I order burgers without it because if it gets on the outside of the bun I will smell it and it ALWAYS gets on the outside of the bun!

My mom hated it, too. She always called it "Tomato Blood". Problem was, I thought that was the coolest thing ever and started calling it that as well, only with affection. "What do you want for lunch, honey?" "Ketchup and Tomato Blood, please!" My nephew loves it so much that things like fries are basically just a means of getting it to his mouth! His favorite thing for lunch was a bread and ketchup sandwich.

Does anyone remember "way back when" it was said that Mayonnaise was great for your hair ??!! I slathered my LONG,long hair with jars of mayonnaise and wrapped my head with plastic wrap. Not a pleasant experience...I luv ketchup & mustard but can only eat mayonnaise as long as I dont SMELL it,thanks to that home-remedy !!

I couldnt agree more! ketchup is disgusting! had to scrape its dried sticky residue off several tables and garbage bins when I was a teenager working at a fast food place in high school. I still have nightmares about how gross it is, as bad as vomit. you are right to not have it in the fridge. I made that mistake once several years ago because a family member likes the stuff. I opened the fridge and the bottle came tumbling out onto the floor, the squirt top popped open and it went everywhere! what a mess. I nearly threw up cleaning it and vowed to never have the in my house again for any reason.

I like ketchup on a few things. But I guess I am a little strange when it comes to mustard. I hate regular yellow mustard but I love honey mustard. Also I love dill pickles but I can not stand sweet pickles. Sweet pickles make me sick and gag just by smelling them. I always ask fast food places if they use sweet or dill pickles.

I dont mind ketchup. My kids LOVE it on everything. My stepson puts it on BACON! It breaks my heart to watch him defile bacon like that... I like almost everything. Especially maple syrup! YUM! I like mustard, and prefer it to ketchup but I couldn't imagine using mustard on fries. No way. I like my fries plain, thanks.

I agree with the kid's Johanna babysat...you can't have grilled cheese or kraft dinner without ketchup...It really is the only time I load up...I made a wonderful roast dinner for my in-law's once, and almost fell off my chair when my sister-in-law asked for ketchup and slathered it on the beef...ketchup does not belong with quality food...only junk food. Fries, burgers, KD, etc. If I have a recipe for something that calls for ketchup, I either replace with homemade tomato sauce or BBQ sauce depending on what it is. Like Porcupine ball - my mother-in-law makes with ketchup and tomato soup, but I have to substitute with homemade tomato sauce when I make her recipe.

I like your blog. I feel the same way about mayo. I always hated ever since i was little also. I hate it so much that both my kids hate it. We barely ever have mayo in the fridge. I buy my husband macaroni or potato salad from the deli cause I hate cooking with it. I do like ketchup though. My sister in law puts in her chicken noodle soup gross. You used to live in Forks? Trying to save a little I bought the hunts and DH refused to even taste it. Literally left his sandwich sitting and went to the store to buy his beloved Heinz.

The comments are great...I'm going to add my two cents. I rarely have ketchup and only with fries and then almost always mixed with mayo. Don't know if I actually hate it, just never really have a desire to eat it. SouthernPride mentioned my one really big hate...Lima beans! It was the one veggie that my Mom wouldn't even try to make me eat! And I ate peas like some of the other people on here...just swallowed them whole. YUCK!

i didn't use to like ketchup, would even hate the smell when my sister would put ti on bread, but now i'm okay with it, i put it certain stuff, although never on spaghetti! and french fries i usually eat with mayonnaise because i'm from holland and that's how we eat it. sometimes i mix mayonnaise with ketchup...

Not a ketchup fan either...I think I was scarred for life when I was a child. I was staying with an aunt for a week and she fed me ketchup sandwiches with butter on brown bread everyday at lunch for a week!!!! Uuggghhh. If that wasn't bad enough on the last morning she made a watery slimy Quiche which was also slathered in that vile stuff. These days I can tolerate it on a burger but it must not touch the bun!

I like ketchup on french fries, not much else. I like mustard too but ot the "grey pupon" type, plain old yellow please. Liver and oysters are really my only totally unpalitable foods. I've been in Forks and La Push many times WW but it's been so long ago. My sister-in-law lived there, she worked at a resturant there, can't remember the name but the food was good, even the ketchop. lol I was a kid and in the hospital for 2 years, believe me after that you don't have very many dislikes, everything tasted better. Except liver.

Well, I feel obligated to share; lima beans are at the top of my barf list, along with kidney beans. There is no reason I can think of why they should even be allowed on a dinner plate. I do, however, love liver and onions, and fried chicken livers (Cindy Lepp has an awesome recipe). I think Okra was actually meant to feed some of the more disgusting StarWars creatures who frequented that crazy bar... We are Trekkies, and I think the Klingons eat something almost as disgusting as Okra (called appropriately "Gagh"), those live worms which would, of course, be quite slimy. But, alas, I do eat ketchup. I have lost most of my taste for it, as I much prefer salsa, BBQ sauce, and Srirachi hot chili sauce. There are, indeed, much better ways to dress a burger, or any good piece of meat! Now WW, I must ask you; are you able to share your orange chicken recipe?? If not, it's cool! :D Love ya. ~decaf

It's actually an orange chicken recipe I found on here...I mixed an egg with the juice of one orange. Set that aside. Then in another bowl, I mixed panko bread crumbs, the zest of the one orange, a little grey salt and coarse ground black pepper and some crushed red pepper flakes. I melted 3 tablespoons of butter on the stove and poured it into a baking dish. I dipped the chicken into the egg mixture and then into the bread crumbs then put it in the baking dish in the butter and turned it to coat both sides and baked at 375 for about 30 minutes! Super easy and really good! I used 2 skin-on bone-in chicken breast halves! Enjoy!

I feel that way about mayo. The smell, the look...don't even want to think about the taste. Can't stand when my kids want a sandwich with it.. they have to spread it on the bread. I can't do it. Blech!!!

I have been married for 4 years. Being married to an electrician, we may have to drop everything and move, so I live in a rv. We have three 4-legged kids: 2 dogs: Puppa and Sasha and one mouthy girl cat named Dave. I am a musician. I love to cook anything and that is what helps me relax. I made a "kitty litter" cake for a co-worker--grey icing, grapenuts and almond roca--even a lavendar kitty litter scoop to serve the thing with--it was hilarious!!
