About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I'd say my specialty is in European Soul food, but there's no category for that. I love quiche but I can't really post a recipe for my quiche because I make it differently every time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom makes the best lasagna, but mine just doesn't turn out the same as hers.
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving 2003: I used all fresh herbs and made everything from scratch. My guests are still talking about the stuffing, so it was worth the extra hours of labor.
My cooking tragedies
Why is something as simple as rice have to be so complicated? I have really screwed up some rice recipes. You would never learn anything if didn't screw things up once in awhile. One time when I first started cooking for myself in college, I forgot to remove the plastic pouch in the center of the chicken. Luckily I remembered before I started eating.

Classic Tiramisu
I made this for my friends birthday, she requested Tiramisu. OMG this was such a hit at the party, there was not a piece left on the platter!

Swedish Sour Cream and Caviar Sauce for Salmon
Very good. I made some minor changes, I added chopped chives as well as dill. And I left out the creme fresh, since I didn't have time to go to the store. It was a hit at my Sweish themed party and I served it with Vesterbotten cheese pie. The bought the caviar at Ikea.

Carrot Cake VIII
I used my own pumpkin pie spice: equal parts of ground ginger, ground cloves, ground nutmeg and cinnamon. It was very good.
