Authentic Kicked-Up Syrian Hummus

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2009
Having a Syrian grandfather I was so excited to find this recipe! I'm allergic to sesame/tehinah so I added a tbs of mayo and extra evoo. Also I think I need to reduce the garlic next time (probably too strong b/c no tahinah)

I wouldn't call these fluffy but I would call them delicious! Gooey, dense, great, organic blueberries and I added choc chips-couldn't help myself.

Orange Blueberry Muffins

A good muffin, but not a hint of orange flavor at all. I used OJ and I used orange marmalade (twice as much as the zest called for)

I didn't think the seasoning had the effect it was supposed to. I tried this with hot dogs instead of sausage, it was ok.

Peanut Butter Cup Bars

wow wow wee wow! I didn't have any graham crackers so I just left the whole crust part out. Maybe next time I'll try a layer of crackers, chocolate, then peanut butter and chocolate on top.

Slow Cooker Root Vegetable Tagine

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
I did not cook it 9 hours and it was still overcooked and starting to get mushy. I didn't have any apricots (I added some preserves to try to get some flavor of it though) I thought it was pretty good side dish, easy, inexpensive easy to find ingredients.

The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
I just put everything in a pot and let it cook for a few hours. Great! Spicy! These were just a matter of preference or what I had on hand, but it turned out wonderful anyhow! I omitted can of garbanzo beans and the can of peppers. I only used 2 28oz cans of crushed tomatoes (I like it thicker, though another 14oz I think would be fine but 28 seems too much) therefore I only did 1 green bell pepper. And 1 jalapeno pepper, but i think maybe i should have done 2. Instead I added a hot red pepper (not sure what kind, long and skinny)

Green Beans for a Special Occasion

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
I used fresh garlic, I think it would have been "blah" w/o fresh garlic. Chopped the pine nuts for a few seconds in processor. Butter sounds like a good idea to get the nuts to stick on more I will try that next time. Tasty, but I wouldn't say it 'has that amazing something' maybe I'll try adding a touch of balsamic next time ?

I only have canned beans so instead I opted for non-canned barely and lentils. Was very good, upped the Worcestershire and spice to taste. Mushrooms sound like a great idea too!

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
We really liked it! Thanks for the recipe! I used Whole wheat spaghetti noodles and powdered ginger instead (its what I had) and I added some red pepper flakes and a dash of chili powder for spice. I think next time I'll try something else thought b/c the flakes made the spiciness too uneven throughout the dish.

Green Beans with Bread Crumbs

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
NIce change for greenbeans, didn't add cheese. Toasting everything together for a few mins might be a good idea to keep the crumbs from getting soggy, but me & my husband enjoyed it and didn't think it was soggy even after it sitting for a while.

Aloo Matar

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
Great side dish! I hate peas I successfully used frozen lima beans, also used greenbeans before. I added a dash of curry and had to make the garam marsala from the mixture another reviewer suggested. I've also tried it with and without sugar, both good! My wok doesn't have a top and it wasn't cooking so I laid flat a piece of foil on top-cooked perfectly, and surprisingly quickly.
