Me and Jamie
About this Cook
I am 29 years old and love to cook. I have been cooking for somebody, whether my family or boyfriend, since the age of 10. Growing up I watched lots of cooking shows. My mother says I am just a natural at it, and to me it is relaxing and fun, not stressful. I especially love cooking for my boyfriend Jamie on special occasions.
My favorite things to cook
Anything Italian. I am Sicilian. I am a big fan also of stir-fry's and some Mexican food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother used to make her homemade spaghetti sauce every Sunday and then would invite my mother and I over for dinner. She would also make her homemade meatballs and sausage on Christmas for dinner.
My cooking triumphs
When I was 10 years old I was following a recipe and it called for 1 teaspoon of salt. I measured it in my hand and my mother looked at me and said, now Chris that is not a teaspoon. Meaning I should use a spoon. So I looked and said your right and sprinkled a bit more in my hand. She then handed me a measuring spoon and I put what was in my hand into it an it was a perfect level teaspoon. After that she let me have free reign in the kitchen.
My cooking tragedies
I would say my biggest tragedies come from the world of baking. Yes it looks good, and some of it even tastes good, but I alas am not a very good baker. But at least I do try from time to time.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls
Yummy pretty much sums it up. Recipe was very easy to follow and carry out. I did add 1tsp mor cinnamon though cause I didn't think it smelled cinnamony enough, and placed them in an 11x9 pan. Great texture and flavor, will defiantly make again. Thanks

Lemonade
Very nice taste. Not overly sweet. I used 2 quarts of water and 3/4c of lemon and 3/4c lime juice and a little less than 1c sugar. Very tasty and will defiantly make again. Will try with just lemons when I have enough to make 2 quarts.

Devil's Food Cake I
I followed the recipe exactly and it did not turn out very good at all. I always try to do the recipe as it is written before tweaking it, but this is one that if I do use again (and I doubt I would) I would defiantly change a few things in, as per other members suggestions.
