I am a professional cake decorator, and at home I like trying new recipes using basic ingredients. I rarely follow a recipe; instead I combine my own ingredients, sauces, and spices.
My favorite things to cook
Kielbasa with fried potatoes, lasagna, baked chicken with ranch potatoes, cheesy breakfast casserole, chicken fettuccine alfredo.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom always made lots of Christmas candies! I've continued the tradition with my own family, making creamy fudge, mounds, peanut butter bars, cherry mash bars, mint crisps, etc.
My cooking triumphs
Strawberry tortes! Technically this isn't really cooking, it's cake decorating, but I love making them. I make 4 thin layers of chocolate cake with strawberry filling, chocolate whipped icing, a wall around the back of the cake made from chocolate almond bark, and chocolate-dipped strawberries with other chocolate embellishments. Another favorite is a bavarian filling with chocolate malt balls cascading down the front.

Pork Fried Rice for Two
My husband and I love this dish! I have made it many times. I always marinate the meat in soy sauce, brown sugar, and 5 spice for as long as possible before cooking, and I always skip the fennel seed. I have used various cuts of pork, chicken and beef, many different vegetables, and sometimes sesame, vegetable, or olive oil, but always this same basic recipe.
