My parents come from both Vietnam and the Phillipines, so I grew up with a diverse array of food... both of which had European and East Indian influences.
My cooking tragedies
Once, I was making pancit canton, a filipino dish similar to chinese stir fry noodles. Since I was making it for a vegetarian, I had some veggie chicken on the side, ready to throw in... and I forgot to add it until the last minute.. and did so in a rush before tasting the ingredient by itself.
The artificial chicken flavor was SO strong that I essentially made something that tasted like cheap ramen noodles... except mine were from scratch... and I was horrified.
