About this Cook
I've owned an extremely busy coffee shop/eatery that gave me a good chance to experiment with many recipes and get a good feel for what people really enjoy eating. I've been baking since age 6 or 8 and my earliest memories of imaginary play included making mud pies, grinding up chicken feed to make "cornmeal pancakes", making dandelion soup, picking wild strawberries, etc. I've done small and large catering jobs, weddings, etc. and continue to improve my skills in things other than baking which has been really fun and challenging at the same time. I plan to add some professional culinary classes to my experiences over the next several years as my children get older
My favorite things to cook
Fish is becoming a favorite for health reasons, but also because it provides a great blank palate for a lot of vibrant flavors - it's also quick and my kids/husband love it every time!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making pies and sugar cookies with my mom and her mother. My other grandmother's roasted chicken and beef roasts are out of this world - I hope to pass on the tradition to all three of my kids.
My cooking triumphs
Catering my sister's wedding. It's still all her friends talk about - in a good way!
My cooking tragedies
I don't consider them a tragedy, just a cooking lesson.

Carrot Souffle
I cut the sugar by 1/2. This is a recipe I've made for my entire family from the taste of home recipes and every time everybody loves it. Needs the cinnamon.

Restaurant-Style Tequila Lime Chicken
This has a lot of ingredients but somehow still ends up a little bland. I think the next time I would try doubling or maybe tripling the sauce. It was still worth making, just needs a little depth of flavor.

Chicken Penne Italiano
I added carrots, but I liked this and it was easy besides. I also always season meat while I'm cooking it so I salt and pepper the chicken while cooking.
