Chicken Broccoli Ca - Unieng's Style

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2012
since I am a Vegetarian, I used extra firm tofu in place of the chicken. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out really good. I will definately be making this one again. I would say that this is a pepper heavy recipe which is great for me since I am a lover of black pepper but if you are not a fan so much you may want to cut back just a tad.

Fabulous! My husband said "best pancakes he's ever eaten"! So easy and so good, make these once and you will NEVER buy pancake mix again. Even the batter looks light and fluffy!

I did not really like this but my mango may not have been ripe enough. it was too tart and it felt like it needed something.

easy to make and good tasting but pretty standard. I prefer the "To Die for Blueberry Muffins" from this site.

These turned out great! You would never know that the orange flecks in the dish were yams. although I would call these blondies, not brownies : ) Will make again!

not a huge fan but I used bottled miso bc i couldn't find some of the other ingredients so it was probably my error not the recipes.

Overnight Asparagus Mushroom Strata

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
My family loved this on Christmas morning. followed the directions exactly except I used shitake mushrooms bc I couldn't find crimini and i substituted broccoli and zucchini in place of the asparagus since I thought asparagus would be to "springy" for Christmas morning. loved the english muffins, not soggy like bread. will TOTALLY make again!

Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
These were insanely easy to make and they were ok but I just don't think they were my cup of tea. I used milk duds and with one candy on the pretzel it just seemed too "pretzely" and not candy enough but when I used two candies they got too chewy. for my tastes I would give it three stars but that is just my palate not the recipe.

Spicy Indian Dahl

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2011
I am really sorry but we just did not like this recipe. First it was written out of order which is rather frustrating when you are trying to time and prepare multiple components of a meal. Secondly it was weirdly full if spice but yet still bland. eating it with chutney and Naan helped but we didn't even bother to save the leftovers of which there was a lot.

Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2011
Tasty and easy soup to make. I have no idea about the "fat burning" properties but looking at the calorie count I can see why you would loose weight eating this and this alone. even though it is a healthy soup I would not make it the staple of your diet. you need WAY more calories in a day then just 3 bowls of this soup will give you. but it makes a TON and it is great for a quick lunch w/ a sammy or as an appetizer before a large meal.

Sweet Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
yummy and perfect. I don't even like pumpkin seeds usually but these are good. I followed the recipe to the letter except I think I used about 2.5 TBS of butter since that is what I had left of one stick. I had no issues with it turning into brittle at the end. as soon as I pulled it out of the oven I stirred it and tapped any clumps with the edge of my spoon so maybe that was the trick. Oh, and per one suggestion I dumped the seeds back into the bowl I used to coat them with butter and Cin/Suger the first time and stirred them in that after each baking cycle so again maybe that help my seeds to stay separate.

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
Delicious. I added a dash of grnd cloves but besides that I followed the recipe word for word and it was lovely. i was too impatient to wait until the next day to try a piece and it was good the first day but the recipe is correct that the flavor really comes together after refrigerating over night. this is my new go to pumpkin pie recipe. I'm going to try it w/ butternut squash as well.

Cheater's Enchiladas

I thought this was OK but my hubbie said it was really good. I added some refried beans and salsa to the inner layers for added flavor. easy weekday dish and something that you can throw together quickly and cheaply but not something Id make for company or anything

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
My original reaction was to give this recipe a 3 bc it is good for what it is but nothing amazing however my hubbie said it was great and he went back for seconds so I will have to err on the side of 4 stars. VERY IMPORTANT - you really have to sauté the onion in a little oil for about five min before adding the beans otherwise you have raw crunchy onion in your dish. I added about 2 tsp of chili powder to the bean mix to give it some flavor and it was good but next time I will take the suggestion to add a pkg of taco seasoning. Next time I will also dress the top once it is finished with shredded lettuce, black olives, jalapeño slices extra salsa and sour cream. easy weekday but not dressy enough for company.

Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
I think this is my all time FAVORITE applesauce! it turned out totally delicious! I used 5-6 different varieties of apples both tart and sweet and bc of this I think I will leave out a little bit of the brown sugar (maybe only use 1/2 cup vs 3/4 cup)but this will most definitely become my go to recipe for apple sauce!

Green Tomato Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2011
if you are wondering what green tomatoes in a cake taste like, I found them to taste like cooked yellow raisins. I was very apprehensive to try this recipe but it actually turned out good. I topped mine with a cream cheese frosting and I really think that is what made this cake. Will prob not be my "go to" coffee cake but I can def see myself making this again next time I have a bunch of green tomatoes I need to use up.
