About this Cook
I'm a new speech-language pathologist fresh out of grad school. I'm starting my first "real" job soon working in acute care. I am a recent newlywed, and I love the fact that my husband is in the kitchen just as much as me, if not more! We love cooking together and trying new things.
My favorite things to cook
In the summer, using fresh produce from local farmers' markets. I love Tex-Mex (fajitas, tacos, all different varieties), Italian (I make a mean alfredo sauce), traditional Southern food (got that from my Grandma).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Christmas cookies with my mom, little sister, and grandmother. Making fresh fruit smoothies, hot fudge sauce, and great dips with my other grandmother. Watching my dad grill every Saturday night. Helping my parents and grandparents pick veggies in the garden every summer. Watching Food Network for hours on end and looking up recipes with my little sister. Now, cooking with my husband and learning about baking bread (his specialty), pizza dough crust, making great rubs/marinades, getting our first Weber.
My cooking triumphs
Apple and Pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving for a crowd. Our gourmet homemade pizzas. Our cheese-stuffed burgers on the grill (feta, mozzarella, cheddar).
My cooking tragedies
Haha...making a mushroom sauce to go over steak (supposed to use Brandy, substituted red wine!) That was the best.
