About this Cook
Growing up, I was the baker of the household, and have always enjoyed it. I have been married for almost a year, and am facing the challenge of cooking every day for my husband and his large appetite! I work in a wedding/prom dress store as well as in a camp kitchen, helping prepare meals for up to 500 people!
My favorite things to cook
I love to make all kinds of desserts, especially cookies, and eat them too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every birthday, our tradition is to make Sunshine Cake, which is a form of Angel Food cake, but much better! It's one of our family's old recipes.
My cooking triumphs
Last halloween, after seeing a photo on Allrecipes, I made a pumpkin cake shaped like a pumpkin. Although the icing was a bit runny, it really looked like a pumpkin. I presented it to my family-in law, and they were wowed (it tasted great too). I am so glad for this site and all the new ideas!
My cooking tragedies
I have many - because I like to experiment. Once I made Ammonia Cookies. The entire house smelled like ammonia, and the cookies tasted like it too! Had to throw them out for fear of them being poisonous.

Spicy Pumpkin Fudge
Tastes just like pumpkin pie! I used white chocolate chips in order to have more pumpkin flavour. It turned out perfectly.

Key Lime Pie VII
This pie was way too sweet. I found it tasting too much like condensed milk and not enough like lime.

Ammonia Cookies
I had to add quite a bit more flour to get the dough to a cookie consistency, in order to drop them on the pan. They also required a longer baking time than the recipe says. However, I iced them with confectioner's glaze and they turned out absolutely delicious!
