About this Cook
I am recently retired and I look forward to living the retired lifestyle. My husband I plan to travel. We have a park Model near a lake and I am interested in camping recipes. I have 6 children and 8 grandchildren. I think sitting dow to at least one meal a day with your family is so very important. (even if it's 2 people)
My favorite things to cook
I guess my favorite thing to cook is soup. I love all kids of soups. One of my most treasured posessions is my huge stainless steel clad aluminum stock pot! I try to cook healthy foods. I also try to make recipes more healthy. You'd think I'd be thin, but I can't seem to stay out of the cookie jar.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandparents farmed for Delmonte Foods. All my life, our family has had a plentiful supply of the best sweet corn ever. Now that Grandpa is gone, we still gather as a crowd and freeze corn for the winter. My sister called it Sunday Corn because we always ate it on Sunday. Everybody loves it. My favorite part of cooking for Thanksgiving is making the stuffing the night before. My Mother and I stand on opposite sides of the bowl and add a little of this and a little of that....taste...discuss...add

Butternut and Acorn Squash Soup
I was so thrilled with this recipe, I made it again within the week. It is a delicious way to get Vitmin C, antioxidants and good old fiber. I drink it warm from a cup. Great for those blustery fall nights.
