Gramma's Apple Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
The flavor of the pudding is very good (I didn't make the sauce) but it's WAY too watery. My pan baked for over an hour and still wasn't set the way I thought it should be done. The dish was really easy to assemble, but I don't know if I'll mess with this again or not.

Bacon Squash Saute

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
This was good, but bland. I added a small amount of chopped hot pepper and some garlic but it still needed something. I will try it again, though. Thanks for the recipe.

Stuffed Kielbasa

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
I made a casserole out of this since I just plain love casseroles. Cut the sausage into 1/4" silver dollar pieces and brown on the stove. Remove from pan and set aside. Add the sauerkraut and some onion slices with a little bit of garlic to the pan and cook to slightly soften. Layer the casserole pan in the following order: Sausages, kraut mixture, a few squirts of mustard and top with the mashed potatoes. Bake at 350 for about 1/2 hour or until hot through. We had enough of this for a second meal and it was even better after sitting for a couple days. Thank you so much for the original recipe - we'll use it again and again!

Waldorf Salad II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I used 1/2 yogurt and 1/2 Miracle Whip and our apples were so big that I only needed 2 but this was great! (Because of nut allergies I had to leave out the walnuts.) We will definitely have this again. Thanks for the recipe!

Cajun Style Baked Sweet Potato

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
Wonderful! Our potatoes were huge so I cut them into sixths and baked for 45 minutes. Perfect and such a different taste - Will definitely have again sometime. Thanks!

Marinated Mushrooms II

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
This was wonderful! It definitely needs to have some time after cooking for the vinegar taste to subside, and I added just about 1/8 teaspoon of horseradish for a little kick, but followed the rest of the recipe completely. I placed it on a bed of chopped iceberg and baby spring lettuces with a little diced tomato on top for color. My husband was pretty unsure about this one, but ended up liking it very much. Will do again soon - thanks for the recipe!

Marinated Cherry Tomato Salad

We really didn't like this at all. It was too oily and the dried herbs made for a bad consistency. I won't try it again.

Dawn's Easy Red Velvet Sandwich Cookies

These were so easy and everyone liked them very much. I did use the cooked icing from another recipe on this site (Red Velvet Cake by Eleanor Johnson) since I consider that the ultimate icing for red velvet anything. Will make again soon - Thanks!

Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
I, too, changed the sauce by using 2 cups bbq sauce and 1 cup catsup along with the rest of the ingredients. It was a little bland, but that's probably my fault for not using the chili sauce. The cooking instructions for these ribs work like a charm, but I did save some of the sauce and baked the ribs with a little fresh sauce in a 375 oven for 20 minutes to thicken after removing from the slow cooker. The rack of ribs in the bottom of my pot literally fell apart, the top rack stayed together and was so very tender. This recipe is a keeper!

Easy Baked Tilapia

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2009
This was great, but here's how we cooked it: We thawed frozen brussels sprouts and used fresh tomatoes for the vegetables. Old Bay, garlic powder and lemon pepper front and back. Dabs of butter and slices of lemon on top of the fish while in the oven. Cook covered for 20 minutes, sprinkle everything with bread crumbs and parmesan cheese and bake for an additional 10 minutes. \It would have been so healthy if I hadn't had macaroni and cheese as the side dish! *smile*

Grilled Sausage with Potatoes and Green Beans

Excellent! We used cocktail sausages and I added an onion cut up into wedges. I wish I had made more sauce, but that was an operator error. We will do this again - thanks for the recipe!

Tender Breaded Turkey Cutlets

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
We thought these were wonderful. My breading fell off, but I don't think I had the oil hot enough to start with. I used 1/2 sour cream, 1/2 Miracle Whip and a squirt of Dijon mustard. Very tasty!

It sure sounded good, but was just too runny for me to appreciate even after draining out all the liquid from the canned tomatoes.

Balsamic Bruschetta

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2009
Excellent dish. I've never had bruschetta before so I can't comment on how authentic this is, but it sure does taste good! I omitted the cheese and added some finely chopped green onions along with about 1/2 tablespoon extra balsamic vinegar. It tastes great already so I can hardly wait to try it tomorrow. Thanks for the recipe!

Campbell's® Healthy Request® Cajun Fish

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
There's no way this can be considered "Cajun", but it definitely was fast and good. I did add some chopped onions with the green peppers and, since the sauce seemed a bit bland, next time will try some extra seasonings. We used tilapia and it worked out well, but in the future I will use a thicker fish as suggested in the recipe.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
I followed a couple other reviews and used 1/2 cup ketchup and 1/4 cup BBQ sauce. I also didn't use any brown sugar but the sauce still seemed a little too sweet so I added a splash of lemon juice which worked perfectly. The taste of the BBQ sauce still seemed overbearing at first, but after simmering for a little while it was just fine. We used either ground chicken or turkey (I don't remember which) and the sandwiches were excellent. Thanks for the recipe and suggestions - we'll definitely have this again.

Butter Bean Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
This made a really good side dish. I was inventive with seasonings (seasoned salt, Old Bay and bread crumbs) and let it sit in the fridge for a while to stiffen up a bit before making the patties. I made 4 thin ones so they would fry crisp. My husband wasn't at all warming up to trying this, but said it was surprisingly good when he tasted them. The recipe was good, but it's a bit of work just for butter beans as a side.

Cold Crawfish Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
We are in the Midwest and crawfish isn't standard fare around here, but I made this for a neighborhood party . I added quite a bit of lemon juice and garlic powder since it seemed to need "something" - maybe my store-bought frozen tails weren't the best quality, too, but nobody said it was good so I won't try that again.

Pineapple Casserole II

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly (I think) but this didn't work for us at all. It just tasted like pineapples and cheddar cheese which didn't go together for our house. I won't try it again.
