About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love making pizza!!! I don't bother with making the dough myself (I go to the local pizza place and buy their dough that they make fresh). MY SECRET: Once I have the dough shaped, I spread a little olive oil all over it, sprinkle with garlic powder, oregano, fresh basil and parm cheese and bake 5 minutes until the pizza holds it shape. Then add your sauce, cheese and toppings (that's another secret for another day)! YUMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My cooking tragedies
Was making my 'famous' coconut, almond & cranberry cookies...grabbed the brown bottle of gravy master instead of vanilla extract. When my daughter tried to sneak a cookie...she got a HUGE surprise! The good news is, is that she hasn't tried to sneak a cookie since!

Apple Crisp II
I followed the directions exactly and it was perfect. No need to alter a thing! I'll try this with peaches and blueberries when they come into season next year! Thanks for a great classic recipe!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies
Delicious cookies! I did make some healthier substitutes: I used Splenda instead of sugar, used 2 egg whites instead of 1 egg, added 1 cup unsweetened applesauce, 2 cups canned pumpkin puree and eliminated the flour and used 4 cups oats. I used a soup spoon to keep size consistent and baked for 12 minutes. They will be softer because of the applesauce, but hold together nicely when cooled. For my icing, I used confectioners sugar plus Coffee Mate's coconut cream flavor liquid creamer to add a little flavor to the cookies. Got rave reviews, especially from my diabetic friends!

Brown Sugar Smokies
WOW! WOW! WOW! I took the suggestion to roll the bacon in brown sugar and let it 'marinate' overnight. So simple to make! EVERYONE asked for the recipe! This will become a regular in our holiday party menu!
