About this Cook
Asian suburban mom of 3 finicky kids and married to an Englishman. Basically, I eat sushi in the closet on a weekly basis.
My favorite things to cook
Fast and healthy meals. I'm also an avid baker. I try and use organics as much as possible.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Sunday morning, I cook a hot breakfast. Every birthday person in the family gets to choose every meal the family eats on their special day.
My cooking triumphs
Catering a party of 100 for less than $250. A white chocolate raspberry cheesecake that was *fought* over in my husband's office. Every meal my kids actually eat (this is rare)! Finally perfecting Yorkshire Pudding.
My cooking tragedies
A pancake disaster as a youngster taught me never, ever improvise with basic recipes! Also the time I tried to whip cream without a machine - tried to impress the new parents-in-law once, and I came out of the kitchen sweaty and with barely fluffy pourable cream.

Yellow Squash Casserole
This is a WONDERFUL recipe. I love the cheesy onion flavors. I varied the thickness of the slices and chunks of squash to vary the bite feel. Look at it as a squash au gratin and serve it as a warm side to ham or roast chicken or turkey. Depending on what you're serving with it, you may need to add garlic, peppers or meat. My pickiest kid loved this. I will try and make a pan, freeze, then reheat to see how it fares. Thanks for sharing!!

Rachel's Wasabi Cocktail Sauce
With a change in technique, this recipe is actually a pretty good one. Knowing that it would be gritty, I microwaved this mixture for 30 seconds. It smoothed the sauce out entirely. Also, remember that sauces like this are 'to taste' so tweaking the wasabi and lemon juice a bit helps. For my family, I doubled the wasabi and lemon, and decreased the ketchup by half. Perfect in a pinch as I forgot to buy cocktail sauce at the grocery store today! Thanks, Rachel!
