About this Cook
I cook for two around my house, and there are times when that can be quite a challenge. I LOVE to bake. It's definately my calling. That, I've been doing since I was just a kid. People often think of baking as this super precise, easy-to-mess-up kind of thing, but I think it take less thought than regular cooking! I'm a novice at actual 'cooking', but I'm gradually getting better. I'm hoping that it's somehow genetic because I come from a long line of Master Mom-Chefs. I'm currently a Cake Decorator for Safeway, which is a LOT of fun, but VERY VERY VERY stressful and has lost the pleasure it used to have. I also often dream about how wonderful it would be if I could attend culinary school.. sigh.
My favorite things to cook
I love quick, easy stuff. I enjoy soups/stews, anything that calls for canned ingrediants, rich pasta dishes, chicken, and my newest joy is Indian food. YUM!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Comfort foods.
My cooking triumphs
Roasting a chicken, making Aloo-Gobi (YUM!), delicious Pecan Tassies (Christmas 2007), and generally successfully making anything on the first attempt.
My cooking tragedies
I'll never tell!

Soft Gingersnaps
I also used this recipe last year and this has become a staple in my mother and I's cookie tray for Chrsitmas. Just the right spicy-ness. Super easy and so soft and chewy! It's a wonder that enough of them make it past my mouth to actually give away :]

Blonde Brownies I
These were yummy! I didn't really know what to expect for a flavor, because I've never had blondies before, but they're really good. I wanted to make brownies for our superbowl party, but one of our guests is allergic to chocolate so this was a really great alternative! I followed other reviewers suggestions and only used a teaspoon of vanilla and use a scant 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder. I also OMITTED THE CHOCOLATE CHIPS and used pecans instead of walnuts. YUM! Highly recommended.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake
My cheesecake cracked on top, but that doesn't bother me :] I'm pretty sure that I over mixed it, but I was looking for flavor and not presentation and I definately found the flavor! This cheesecake tastes great and creamy and delicious! YUM!
