About this Cook
I'm a 19 year old college student. I recently moved into an apartment with a kitchen and have discovered a love of cooking. This site has been great in offering me new and delicious things to make. I'm very much a beginner, but with the help of Allrecipes.com I've been able to make things that taste great.
My favorite things to cook
I love making desserts. I'm not a huge fan of eating them, but I love when other people enjoy eating the sweets that I make.
My cooking triumphs
I made the Peanut Butter Chip Chocolate Cookies on this site and they came out great. I'm in college right now and I live in a campus apartment. The RA on our floor frequently has floor programs, usually involving food. I made these for a dessert night once and the whole 2 dozen were gone in 5 minutes. Another time, people actually came to my apartment later in the night to tell me how much they enjoyed it and that "I should be a chef!"
My cooking tragedies
I was in a cooking contest and I decided to make a pizza using the Jay's Signature Pizza Crust on this site. It was my first time making any kind of bread and I couldn't get the yeast to proof. I tried twice before I didn't have enough time to do it again. The crust came out thin, hard, and doughy. The judge asked if it was a wheat crust in response to its rough texture. I ended up coming in third out of four, sadly. I've since made the crust again and have had better results in terms of getting the yeast to proof and the dough to rise. Unfortunately, on my second go, I burned the pizza and the outer crust was hard as a rock.

Blue Cheese Burgers
these were pretty good...i omitted the mustard because i didn't have any. It didn't seem to have an impact on the flavor of the burgers. Also, I used Franks Red Hot for the pepper sauce.

Peanut Butter Chip Chocolate Cookies
These are great. They're delicious, people love them, and they're easy to make. I always have trouble with making them look like cookies and not big clumps, but their appearance does not diminish their tastiness. I don't think it has anything to do with the recipe, it's probably something that I am doing wrong. I think the problem lies in the fact that I don't form them correctly.

My Best Clam Chowder
This was the best clam chowder I've ever had. Everyone loved it. I did what a lot of other people did and browned some bacon, mixing the fat in along with the vegetables. I did not include the carrots since I've never really seen carrots in clam chowder. The red wine vinegar added a whole new level of flavor that was evident the moment I poured it into the pot. I also added a dash of onion and garlic powder. Oh, and I did not have half and half so I ended up using heavy cream. This without a doubt made the chowder extremely fatty and rich, but it did not take away from the flavor. However, next time I will be using half and half.
