Fudgy Chocolate Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
This was the pie of choice for our New Year's Day gettogether and it isn't going to make it to the party! I made this yesterday AM (New Year's Eve), allowing a little more cornstarch and milk to make enough to fill a deep dish pie crust, topped it with meringue and there is one tiny slice left in the fridge. Texture was creamy, chocolatey rich and as noted by another reviewer, it "presented" well as it didn't fall apart from the pie plate to the dessert plate! There's just something totally unappetizing about a pie that ends up as a glob on your plate. This is a lovely pie and one I'd be happy to serve at any occasion, or for no occasion at all! Delicious. Thanks Nancy!!

Annie's Turkey Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
I've added raisins and pecans, another time I added pineapple tidbits and walnuts. You cannot screw this up. Even as written this recipe is a clear winner. I cut it in half for just the two of us and freeze the remaining turkey for a de ja vue all over again! We love it for a Saturday lunch served on our favorite hoagie roll with chips and dill pickles. YUM! Thanks Annie. You helped simplify weekend lunches and what to serve those football fans.

Thanksgiving in a Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Fantastic basis for T'giving leftovers! I followed instructions as given but since I had only turkey breast which is kinda dry, I added a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of cream of chicken, and the left over gravy to the turkey. Made extra mashed potatoes and topped that with shredded Cheddar. I made this yesterday and re-heating it in the oven as this is being typed. Cranberry sauce gives it just that extra oomph! Delicious!!

Vicki's Hush Puppies

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
I made our favorite pulled pork (eastern NC style), cole slaw and you can't have pulled pork without a great hushpuppy. Well, this one is beyond great. I didn't change a thing. Caught hubby with the 3 leftovers and a tall glass of tea. He said they were just too good to be considered a "left over"! We have a new favorite. Thank you.

Didn't change a thing! They are delicious hot out of the oven and just as good cooled, on a buffet table where they attracted a lot of attention. They make a very pretty presentation. I shared your recipe with several people who were raving over how good they were. Will definitely make this again.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
Saw this recipe and it just sounded too good to pass up. I had all the ingredients on hand except creamed corn. Decided I couldn't let that whip me so I used 2 cans of whole kernel corn and mixed it with an 8 oz. pkg. of softened cream cheese. Tossed in a can of green chilies, a dash of cayenne, and the rest was history. Truly a great recipe. I baked it in a 2 quart baking dish because a 9 x 9 inch dish wouldnt hold it.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
I figured 24,000+ people couldn't be wrong. They weren't! I made these yesterday and had about 5 or 6 left over. This AM when DH got up to go hunting, he wiped out the leftovers with his coffee and left me a note saying he had re-heated them in the oven and they were just as good as when they were first made. I didn't change a single thing and today will be a repeat performance when I make another batch of these truly delicious dinner rolls! Thanks so much , Donna, for sharing such a great recipe.

Brie en Croute

If nothing else, timing and presentation are worth 5 stars. However, if you believe you eat first with your eyes, then this is truly a remarkably delicious crowd pleaser. My daughter's neighborhood has a wine tasting get together 4 times a year and this past weekend she was the hostess for the event. We found this recipe and decided that on looks alone it would get a good review. It was wonderful! I can't tell you how many copies we've made of this recipe to give to the party goers who raved over it. Deliciously gorgeous, very easy prep. Can't ask for more!

Slow Cooker Carolina BBQ

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
Coming from an eastern Tarheel and one who makes the trek from central VA straight down I-95 to Carolina for the sole purpose of purchasing BBQ, this recipe is very true to the real deal and brings back many memories of home. It's the only way to go with homestyle Carolina BBQ! This is as good as it gets.

Apple Harvest Pound Cake with Caramel Glaze

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2009
Most of the time, I have either Fugi or Gala apples on hand and I used those (one each) in this cake in lieu of the Granny Smiths. I also split the sugar between white and brown. I let it sit for an entire day before I let DH know I had a cake baked. I don't know if that helped the flavors meld or not. I do know that it surely did not hurt!! The only thing that really bothers me is that I wanted to take a picture and submit it. The cake was beautiful, absolutely delicious and gone in a flash. DH took half to work where 4 co-workers have asked for the recipe and I shared the remaining half with BF and neighbor. Will I do this one again? You betcha!!

Plain Caramel Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
Last weekend I made candy apples using the hard, red candy coating with the red hot candies for a bit of a spicey kick. Love em. Hubby asked me to do some with cramel and I chose this recipe because he said "Plain" was good. I have to tell you, fast and easy works for me. The taste? I can be swayed to a new way of thinking this candy apple thingy. Delicious!

Jalapeno Popper Wontons

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
Over the top GOOD! I only had a can of green chilies so I drained them well and added 2 finely chopped, seeded and deveined jalapeno peppers. Totally awesome. I used half a package of wonton wrappers and only half the cream cheese mixture since there are just the 2 of us and only 2 were left; they are earmarked for DH's lunch tomorrow. We had the sweet chili sauce for "dunking" and now looking forward to wiping out the other half at movie night this weekend! Thanks for sharing Billy Goat. Definitely a keeper!!

Hot Spiced Cider

I make this in a crock pot also. We love to take it in a large thermos bottle along with some ginger cookies when we go looking for our Christmas tree. It's a warm and fuzzy treat for the tummy on these cold and rainy autumn days! The aroma wafting through the house will make you crazy for a big mug of a fantastic hot cider!!

Chinese Sausage Fried Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
Excellent and easy; my kind of recipe! I totally omitted the chicken but added a chopped green pepper then followed recipe as directed. I used leftover rice from previous nights dinner and it turned out perfect. Hubby (Filipino) suggested using cubed pork in lieu of chicken! I think he's looking at a tasty treat to take to work for his lunch! Thank you for sharing.

Sandy's Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
Was looking for a recipe to use up leftover baked chicken and yours was a clear winner. I used 1 can cream of mushroom soup because as another reviewer said, I was out of mushrooms; 1 can cream of chicken, added 1 can of green chilies and served it with cornbread muffins. Thanks for a recipe that provided an excellent base to use what was on hand in a delightfully delicious way. Loved it!
