It was ok. Husband and 3 yo didn't like it at all. Made exactly as written -- probably will not make again.

Grandma's Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
Very good. Took the advise of one reviewer and used 2 can of creamed corn and 1 can of whole kernel corn. Only used 2 potatoes because that is all I had and it was plenty. I also substituted 1 can of chicken broth for the water and salt. Will definitely make again.

Bean and Kale Ragu

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
Good not great. Was a little bland -- had to add extra cumin. Used chicken broth instead of water and tomatoes w/out green chile peppers because of my 3 yo. This would be good with ham or sausage. I also topped it with parmesan cheese.

Couldn't be easier. Used Rolos instead of kisses and topped with m&m's due to my son's nut allergy.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
Good...I thought it had a little too much black pepper. Next time will reduce by half. Only added a dash of red pepper flakes so my 3 yo would eat it. Used 2/3 cup water per pound. Will definitely use this instead of store bought.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
I am giving this recipe 4 stars because my husband really enjoy it. I followed the recipe as written and I felt it was very bland. I really couldn't taste the sauce which was delicious by itself. Next time, I will omit the butter all together and cook the chicken until half way through without the sauce. I will baste towards the end of cooking but will leave a little extra sauce to be used as a dip during dinner.

I did not care for this soup. I made this recipe exactly as written. The combination of flavors didn't work for me at all. Sorry

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
This was better than expected! Followed directions as written except shredded the cheese. Next time I will leave it as cubes -- the cheese flavor got a little lost. Very moist -- my husband didn't realize it was turkey and my 3 yo loved it. Will definitely make again.

Banana Bread VIII

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
I was looking for a recipe that did not have eggs because my son is allergic to them. This recipe was Excellent! I made a couple of minor changes after reading other reviews. I added cinnamon and vanilla to the bananas, used half whole wheat and half regular flour, decreased sugar to 3/4 cup and added 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce. Baked as muffins for about 23 minutes. These couldn't have been better!

Lentils and Rice with Fried Onions (Mujadarrah)

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
Good. One onion is NOT enough -- next time will use 3. Used chicken broth to cook lentils. Still needed additional salt for flavor. Otherwise followed directions exactly. Will make again!

Apple Scones

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
As others stated, they were a little bland and I couldn't taste the apple at all. Had to add a little more flour to get a stiff enough dough to knead. Next time I will mix the apples with cinnamon & sugar and maybe a little nutmeg to add some flavor.

10 Minute Zesty Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
Good, easy and fast. Per some reviews about it being too runny, drained the tomatoes almost completely and then squeezed in some fresh lime juice. Dumped everything in my food processor and pulsed a couple of times -- textured was still a little chunky, perfect for dipping. There was a metallic taste at first, but once it sat for a couple of hours, that went away! Will definitely make again.

This was really good. I may a few minor changes to appeal to my 3 year old. Eliminated green chilies and reduced the spices by 1/2. Used cut up chicken instead of ground turkey.

Pretty good. Used mild Italian turkey sausage. The evaporated milk didn't add much to the soup, so I some heavy cream (maybe a 1/4 cup). Used frozen spinach.
