About this Cook
I am still learning how to cook, but with my husband's help, I've been trying new foods and broadening my horizon. Sadly though my 6 year old doesn't like that idea. :)
My favorite things to cook
Pretty much anything I can get a hold of! :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up, my stepdad was the chef in the family- and that mostly consisted of grilled chicken and potatoes, but I had no complaints- it was good! We did however have one fun tradition- once or twice a year we would splurge and have ice cream sundaes or banana splits for dinner. We went all out and would go rent a few movies and stay up all night. Now, my new tradition is to attempt something new at least 3-4 nights/week. :)
My cooking triumphs
Learning to make apple pie from scratch! I am also very proud that I finally tried enchiladas- how did I go for 23 years without trying them? Yummmmm....
My cooking tragedies
My second attempt at a 2hr turkey. I somehow wasn't able to contain the small amount of fats and it was splattering all over the oven and smoking really badly- I had to stop it because I was scared of setting the apartment on fire!

Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
Bummer, you put up this recipe before I could! The only thing I suggest is if you like this, try a grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich. They are both AMAZING. Just make sure to use the spatula to squish the sandwich down, it makes a world of difference. mmmm.

Best Tuna Melt (New Jersey Diner Style)
This is the best tuna sandwich I have ever had. It has changed the way I make tuna sandwiches for good. No longer do I ever load up on the mayo- the vinegar makes it so much better! I'm making it again tonight :)
