About this Cook
Hiya. :) I'm a 27 year-old Texas A&M graduate (c/o '03, whoop!). I work full-time for a small oil & gas company as a Petroleum Engineer, but still like to find time in the evenings to cook for my boyfriend and friends. I've come a looonnngggg way in my culinary expertise over the past two years, and I really enjoy finding and trying out new recipes! :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Helping my mom make Malaysian dishes... Rendang, lontong, nasi lemak... yummy. :) Lots of aromatic ingredients not traditional to dishes found here in the U.S.
My cooking triumphs
I've finally mastered the art of correctly seasoning foods -- I used to have the tendency to over-salt/season a lot of times.
My cooking tragedies
Hmm... trying to bake a chocolate cake in the microwave when I was a child? :) I'm sure there's been some since then... probably over-cooking chicken/seafood.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf
Can't go wrong with this recipe. I've made this one a few times, as well as tried some others from this site (Rempel Family Meatloaf, Glazed Meatloaf I, The Best Meatloaf)...my bf and I agree that this one beats all the rest. I only made a few changes, I used less milk, and also put the glaze on top.

Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin
Awesome!! and sooo easy! :) My boyfriend loved it, and said that when we make the other half of the tenderloin, I should do it the exact same way. I served it with white rice and stir-fry style green beans with onions for a well-rounded Asian style meal.

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos
I'll definitely keep this recipe -- it was a nice change from the regular cumin flavor of tacos. I also omitted the oregano and added fresh cilantro, which was what made the dish for me. I served with all the fixins, and sauteed mushrooms, onions, and spinach on the side. My boyfriend really enjoyed them and went back for seconds. Note: the 20 minute initial cook time for browning the chicken is wayy too long.
