Caramel for Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
This is seriously good caramel, I couldn't find my candy thermometer but it still turned out perfect, boiled for 10 minutes or so after adding the butter and cream like others. I dipped apples and poured the leftover caramel on parchment and cut and wrapped in parchment to make caramel candies.

Lollipop Sugar Cookies

This is a GREAT cookie! I halved the salt after reading reviews and the taste was perfect! I made these for a bake sale at my son's school and wrapped them in cellophane and tied them with ribbon. They came out great!

Spicy Shredded Beef

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2009
Sooooo good! I didn't think it was going to turn out spicy as written so I used two 10 oz cans of Rotel with chilies and 2 more cloves of garlic. No water was needed. I used lean stew meat to cut down on prep and it fell apart in the pan and didn't need shredding. Fantastic for shredded beef tacos!

Lemon Lover's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
This recipe is AMAZING! You must NOT skimp on the icing, it is fantastic!! I halved the recipe and made four mini loaves, iced them and topped with lemon zest, then stuck them in the fridge until I served them. Not a crumb was left! I didn't have lemon extract on hand so I used vanilla extract in place of it, but that was the only change I made.

BREAKSTONE'S Moist Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
I hardly EVER give less than 5 stars, but just wanted to be fair to others who want a moist pound cake, this recipe didn't do it for me. I am a fairly experienced baker and was not impressed with this recipe....

Picante Chicken Rice Burritos

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
Wow! Everyone LOVED these! I poached my chicken in chicken stock, oregano, salt and pepper, and diced the meat instead of shredding. I also put a small amount of enchilada sauce on top of the burritos before adding the cheese. I've never used jarred salsa in a sauce, but I was pleasantly surprised with the result. Will definitely make again.

Easy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
Super yummy, I modified to my taste. I used 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teasp. salt, added an extra tablespoon of milk, added a teaspoon of vanilla and omitted the oil. For me, it works best to have a well heated medium heat non stick pan and let them rise quickly, that way they stay tender inside.

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2009
My oh my, these are amazing, and I grew up on the box stuff which is pretty good, but NO comparison to these! The crust is tender and delicious! I made a little more filling, used 6 eggs and bit more lemon juice and flour.

Easy Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
I followed the advice of another reviewer and used 4 egg yolks, 1 can condensed milk, 1/2 cup lime juice and the zest of two key limes. This made a great mixture for me, perfect amount of sweet and sour, it makes a very shallow pie so I whipped up some fresh cream and layered it on top. I also made my own graham crust, it only takes ten minutes and makes all the difference in my opinion. Delicious!

Donna's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
Great cake! I left out the lemon extract and made two 9 inch rounds. They came out wonderful and I halved each round for a four layer cake, filled with cool whip mixed with vanilla pudding mix and fresh strawberries and blueberries, topped with blueberries and raspberries to make a flag cake for the 4th of July.

Fruit Pizza II

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
I modified this recipe quite a bit, I whipped up 1 cup of fresh cream instead of the cool whip along with 1/2 cup of sugar and the cream cheese for my "spread". I glazed the fruit with melted apricot jam and this was seriously one of the best deserts I've had in a long time! SO good!

Best Beef Dip Ever

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
YUMMY! I added a can of french onion soup to the mix and cut back on the soy sauce a bit, also used 1 cup of low sodium beef broth in place of some of the water. It came out a bit salty for my tastes but my husband LOVED it as well as the kids.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
VERY good soup, I am a potato soup lover and this was a great treat. I used 3 potatoes instead of two and also simmered the potatoes a little longer than the recipe suggests, then added cream (instead of half/half) a few minutes before serving.

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
Great base recipe, I used half granny smith, half gala. I used only a 1/4 cup of sugar and it was perfect for my taste. I left out the raisins and walnuts but did throw a half a cup of chopped pecans into the crumb mixture, which I made in the food processor. I doubled the crumb topping as others did but it wasn't necessary at all, I had way too much. Served with vanilla ice cream YUMMY!

Crescent Mummy Dogs

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
Okay so these were time consuming BUT I made them in advance with mini hot dogs and refrigerated them wrapped in plastic wrap on a cookie sheet and so that made it a lot easier for me. A few tips, it is best to work with this dough cold so if you are slow (like me) keep the rest of the dough refrigerated while you work. These came out super cute and surprisingly tasty!! I left out the cheese.
